Yea, it's all probably in my mind to be fair. When I play a Fender amp, I have a pre-conceived expectation. I anticipate that Twin or DeVille sound. I really do love the Hot Rod DeVille 410.

I've never owned a Vox EL84 amp. The 3 I've owned are the Mesa Studio 22+, Peavey Delta Blues, and Fender Blues Jr. The Blues Jr. and Studio didn't last long with me. But I still have the Delta Blues. When you crank a Delta Blues, it makes the others sound like toys.

For overdriven (power tube dist.) sounds, I have enough to work with. Delta Blues (El84) Heidkamp (El34), Hughes & Kettner Triamp (El34), Ampeg Superjet (6L6).. The Heidkamp being the clear first option. But I enjoy what all of them have to offer. The Triamp has a really good Brittish channel in it that's great as well.

For heavy stuff, the Triamp without question.

For cleans? I think I do have a respectable pool to draw from. Including the Roland JC. But for me to really feel like I have all bases covered, a great Fender clean would make it all come full circle.

Although I love "Fender Clean" (as evidenced by my amp collection, past and present), I have (usually) preceded that "Fender Clean" with an overdrive pedal of some sort...I love the sound of a boost, overdrive or fuzz pedal (or a combination thereof) hitting the front end of a Fender tube amp...sonic auditory heaven!

H&K have some good ones, for sure.

I'm drooling over a 6L6/KT88 based Randall right now, but not sure I can justify $2k for a head. Even though it has an awesome clean too. But neither the EL34 based Orange nor the Vox works well for rapid bass-heavy metal (but that could also be the Telefunken preamp tubes I love so much for blues and solos with a drive pedal).
My solid state Orange practice amp is probably what works best at the moment, but 35W SS doesn't always cut it...

I love the Triamp's high gain channel to no end. I've had Metal players try it out, and they've been pretty blown away by the tightness of it without an OD.

There's a Hughes and Kettner Tube 50 being sold on eBay right now for $400 shipped.

The Tube 50 is basically the best parts of the Triamp scaled down to 4-channels. I've been watching that auction for a month now, but already having the Triamp would make that a redundant purchase. I'd be as happy with a Tube 50 as I am with the Triamp. At $400, that's a great deal.

Incidentally, I use a Telefunken in the first stages of the drive channels in the Triamp. It does add to the bass tones and gives the drive channels extraordinary articulation at the same time. Personally, I think Telefunkens are a great tube for any amp. Worth the price you pay all day long.

I can't disagree with that at all.

A good drive pedal is the most important tool you can have, after the guitar and amp.
A mediocre drive pedal, on the other hand, can easily make things sound shrill or muddy.

But when I hit that perfect spot between volume on the guitar, drive on the pedal and gain on the amp, and can control the harmonic thickening and break-up just by how hard I hit the strings, it feels great. No SS amp or digital drive can give you that control (nor that much rope to hang yourself with either).
So a good drive pedal is one thing I recommend not saving money on. It doesn't need six knobs and a fancy name, but it does need good design and components, and should sound harmonic.
