Very encouraging responses !

We're very much looking forward to it !

Tonight, Mrs. LMN surprised me... (and confirmed once again that I married the right woman), when she casually mentioned that since we were there anyway, we should stay an extra night in Memphis and take the Gibson Factory Tour !!! :D :D

Image

Please excuse the blasphemy

So, add that to our itinerary too.

cheers!

Yea... ??

I've spent time in western Arkansas before as well as the Mississippi Gulf Ports in my career, developing several hotels there. Have also been to Memphis and Olive Branch, MS many times on biz associated w/ Holiday Inns.

But, the Delta and interior regions of Mississippi are new to me.

Any tidbits of information, such as sights to see, local customs or foods to experience, etc. that you think would enhance our trip are much appreciated !!

cheers!

Thanks !

So far as knee/hip issues, I'm good there... I bike 30 mi./day, and have for years. Weather permitting, outdoors, otherwise indoors on my recumbent exercise bike.

I feel the years creeping up on me in some ways, but luckily, orthopedically I'm good to go !!

cheers!

Just decided to add Sun Studios to our itinerary while in Memphis !

Image

Sun Studios is famous for having first recorded Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison and Johnny Cash.

We also thought of touring Graceland, which I have driven past several times. But, even though Mrs. LMN and I recognize Elvis' greatness, neither of us are fans enough to spend the time or money touring the place... especially at $36-$77pp !!

cheers!

In preparation for our trip, given that there are six different venues/stages at the Festival, it's necessary to prioritize which Bands we want to see. So, I researched them all and found Youtubes of all but one.

Despite many of these players being local or regional, it was surprising to discover all the non-headliner talent that makes up the core of the festival.

From what I've seen, the mainstream is likely unaware of many of these very talented players.

I've attached the lineup, along with links to their performances, so that some of you can come to know of them too.

Thursday, October 8th

Danny Lancaster
Sterling Billingsley Band
Brandon Santini
Zac Harmon
Kentucky Headhunters
Cate Brothers
Bobby Rush

Friday, October 9th

Austin Walkin’ Cane
Carson Diersing Band
Marcus “Mookie” Cartwright
Charlotte Taylor & Gypsy Rain
Dylan Doyle Band
Mississippi Spoonman & Spoonfed Blues
Selby Minner Band
Super Chickan
C.W. Gatlin Band
Reba Russell
Samantha Fish
Wampus Cats
Anson Funderburgh
Big Jay Cummings
Sweet Angel
Jimmy Burns Band
Paul Thorn
Robert Randolph & The Family Band

Saturday, October 10th

D. R. Diamond & Birthright Blues Project
David Kimbrough
Reverend Robert with Randy Seppala
Earnest “Guitar” Roy
June Bug & the Porchlights
Peterson Brothers
Don McMinn
Ironing Board Sam
Big George Brock & His House Rockers
Kenny Smith, Bob Margolin & Bob Stroger
Larry McCray
Lil Biscuit
Andy T & Nick Nixon
Billy Gibson
Eb Davis
Ruthie Foster
Lucky Peterson
Taj Mahal

Check some of these guys out, I think you'll enjoy what they offer.

cheers!

Only 31 days to go before Mrs. LMN and I jet down to Memphis and then down to Clarksdale and Helena for the Fest !!

A lineup change has added Jimmie Vaughan and Lou Ann Barton to the Friday schedule !

Of course, the airline has cancelled our original flight now getting us into Memphis @3:30 instead of 10:00 originally. We were to take the Gibson Factory tour at noon and Sun Studios at 3:00 !

We changed the Gibson tour to Sunday, but looks like we'll have to drop Sun Studios from the itinerary... :(

Can't wait !!

cheers!
