Well haven't posted much lately but I did get a new amp. I bought the blues junior tweed model. Went to local GC and tried both of them and just liked the tweed one better. I was thinking about the mustang 3 or blues junior and it certainly has that great tube tone . This gives me super nice cleans and spring reverb is really great. The mustang 3 is real good amp and offers a lot for the money and gives a player many options. The tweed blues junior gives you that nice tube breakup when pushed and when I kick on the ts9 it gets real nice drive and my Stratocaster has never sounded better .

Congrats on the cool new amp. 8)

Of course, this certainly qualifies for posting in the modern amps section of the forum, instead of the lounge.

Thanks for tip about amps forum area. I do think choosing a amp can be tricky and I glad that I have this amp . Would like fix reverb on a. 83 superchamp took it apart to look around but its all point to point wiring . Took apart reverb tank looks good there. not sure what the problem could be. the tubes all seem to be good .

You can't really know if a tube is good by looks alone. You need a foot switch to activate the reverb on that amp. The reverb driver is a 12AT7 (V2), and the reverb recovery is a 6C10 (V3), triple triode that uses one of the triodes for reverb recovery. If you have a working foot switch, and the reverb doesn't work, you might try a new tube in one or both positions.

Do you have the foot switch, which is necessary to turn the reverb on?

No foot switch but it has a reverb knob on front panel thought that turns it on.

No, the reverb is off unless activated by the foot switch.

I bought the very same amp a few weeks ago. I tried out a bunch of others and for my playing needs the tweed Blues Junior was what I wanted. I liked the standard Blues Junior but the upgrades on the tweed model were well worth the extra money.

Great amp!

Jay

I don't have the tweed model but my reverb works without the pedal.

The OP is referring to the 83 Super Champ for the reverb, not the BJr. There is no foot switch for the reverb on a BJr.

I know, should be a separate thread, but.....

My understanding is only difference in the tweed model is the tweed itself and the speaker... is that right?

The reverb jack is a "Tip-Ring-Sleeve" (TRS), but certainly could be shorted to activate the reverb, either internally or with a shorted plug. Of course the short must be between the tip and ring, and not to ground.
