I have two Fulltone pedals (GT-500 and Plimsoul) that are outstanding in tone and craftsmanship! Doubt you could go wrong with a Clyde. However, you can get an original Dunlop Crybaby modded for true bypass way cheaper. That is what I have until a great deal on a Clyde comes by!

I have heard good things about the Ben Wah (I think BBE?) pedal which is stock true bypass and also substantially cheaper than a Clyde.

I think the biggest issue with Wahs is whether or not they are true bypass. They sap tone when not in use if not true bypass.

As several have already suggested, the Fulltone Clyde is a good choice but if you are looking for really great wah tones, the Vox Hand Wired wah wah is about as good as it gets.My wife gave me one a couple of years ago and it is the closest in sound to my original 1967 Vox Clyde McCoy picture wah that I have heard yet.The only downfall of this pedal is that like the original Clyde McCoy pedal,it is strictly batteries only but these little sacrifices are far outweighed by the incredible tones the pedal is capable of.

Can't really go wrong with a Fulltone. His stuff is built like a tank. I have a Crybaby GCB95 and never really got what I wanted out of it and it tone sucks like crazy and isn't really as vocal as I want. I'm waiting for build your own clone to get the drop in kit back in stock, but in the meantime I built a MOD KITS DIY Whatz Wah and really like it. Very vocal, has a little hair to it and true bypass, no tone sucking. I don't use a wah all that much, but if I did it would be Fulltone.

I haven't had much time to use the Fulltone Clyde Deluxe, so far. But it doesn't suck tone, and gave me pretty nice results, the little bit I played with it. I was actually surprised since I've never used a wah and expected it to sound pretty crppy till I developed some technique. I guess everyone needs a little wah once in a while. I feel like I have a good one for when needed.
