I've never owned a wah pedal. I'm going to buy one this weekend, to use in an upcoming project. I've done a little research. There's no right or wrong with wahs, pretty much good, and better, so I'm not getting too stressed out over all of the choices. I've decided to get either a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe, or a Custom Audio Engineering MC404. Does anyone have any experience with either of these two that you could share? I don't think I'll regret either choice.
I'm leaning towards the Fulltone, even though it's a little more expensive. It's built about 20 miles from my house, and that gives it an edge. But, the MC404 seems to be a pretty good unit also.

I have a 1994 Dunlop Crybaby GCB-95 which works great, after I pulled out the plastic washer on the switch. I've been eyeballing a Dunlop Crybaby 535Q. That is their flagship pedal. If you want to drop some cash get a Teese pedal.

I like the action of a crybaby but I suspect that is because it is the first wah I used. You could probably get used to any pedal. When engaged the crybaby will affect your basic tone quite a bit.

For less money you could get a Area 51 wah pedal..
I've tried ALOT of wahs and the Area 51 keeps that "liquid" uni-vibe type effect that most modern wahs doesnt seem to do with the same authority.

Check them out, I highly recommend that Wah pedal and Dan Albrecht (who owns Area 51) is a great guy to deal with.

I have been using a Vox Wah for over 25 years, great tone, even sweep, and it's never let me down.

But the Fulltone is a nice piece of equipment too!

I've owned a jimi Hendrix wah since the early 90's and its never let me down. Several years ago I removed the internal buffer circuit, converted it to true bypass and replaced the pot. I also installed pots to adjust the Q and the sweep. These were all cheap and easy mods that can be found all over the Internet. If I ever lost it, I would buy the cheapest wah I could find and redo only the buffer and true bypass mods. Other than that , try them before you buy them and happy hunting.

Another one here for the CryBaby... I use the entry level, straight up standard one... I love them... never had any prob's with these and you get that quintessential, pukey wah wah sound when you find the sweet spot in the sweep 8)

Well there you go, I didn't know a fuzz wah even existed. Pretty cool sound. I'm going to remember that one for later. Thanks.

I looked at the Area 51 pedals. I don't remember why I passed on them. I'll go back and look again. The RMC-10 is also a consideration.

This might sound silly at first but I look for transparency in a wah. Yah, I know. A wah colours your tone so what am I on about? I want the sound of my guitar to still come through. I had a Cry Baby. It adds distortion. Then I got a Vox. It was better but still wasn't as clean as I wanted. Then I got the Clyde Deluxe and now I have arrived. Search is over.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I came to post that I just ordered a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe from Sweetwater. Seeing your post made me feel a bit better. Thanks. Search over.

I use the Dunlop 95Q CB, and modified for true bypass. I do agree I find that on my rig it adds a little distortion from frequency peak.
