I can't believe it, but I'm flying out of Texas in two days to begin our tour! It's been absolutely insane so far, with Cari and I doing crazy things like waking up at 5:00am and Skype calling venues across Ireland and the UK trying to get gigs. We don't have a manager or agent or anyone, so we're doing all the work ourselves.

The tour turned out much different than we expected. Originally it was going to be ten days in Ireland followed by a few days in Scotland and several more in England. But for whatever reason, we had a much easier time getting gigs in Scotland than anywhere else. So we ended up having to chance our itinerary because of all the gigs we were being offered there. If you live in England, you may have to make a weekend of it and head north to see us!

Here is our official tour schedule, http://cariandbecks.com/shows.html

We have several shows lined up in Edinburgh, Perth, Stirling, The Isle of Skye and Glasgow. We also have one in Cork and one in Dublin, and we'll be out busking wherever we happen to be everyday.

We'll also be hanging out in Manhattan once we get back (June 4-7), so if you know of anywhere to play (such as an open mic) please let me know! Actually, those will be like our vacation days too. So if you can think of anything cool (and cheapish/free) to do in NYC, be sure to tell me.

Of course, I will post updates when I can! :)

Texas,
That's great news! To add to SBLS' suggestions, check out the scotch, but not too much at one time 8)
When are you coming to Toronto????

Texas: That's terrific. Congrats, on landing those gigs.

I never got to Scotland, unfortunately, but in the early 60s I did get to England and Eire. I started in quaint Bantry Bay in the county of Cork, and then got invited to a community dance where a folk rock band from Dublin performed. People of all ages showed up.It was a step back in time and a step to the future with some rocking and some jigging. I didn't get to the city of Cork, but I made it to Killarney. I couldn't get over how beautiful the countryside is, and the fact that there are so many colours of green. There were pictures of JFK hanging everywhere, from homes to pubs (that was the 60s though). Take in the local music whenever and wherever you can, and I needn't tell you to do the same in Scotland.

When I and a friend toured the pubs in Ireland (we were under age in Canada - but, not overseas) , free drinks were passed my way as I have a popular Irish name in that neck of the woods. My buddy jokingly complained and tried to convince the locals, that he, with the last name Angus, was from a clan driven from Scotland to Ireland. Possibly. However, the locals didn't buy the story as I received another of Brian's beverages.

Your music will be appreciated, and with all the friendliness you will have to make an effort not to have a great time. Have fun.

You're going to enjoy Edinburgh. Take a little time to see the city. It's a little different than Texas! :D
Here's a pic of one of the castles that I took from our trip there.

Hi texasguitarslinger, I just want to wish you all the best on your tour. I've never actually been to Ireland but been up to Scotland a few times, some good scenery up there and if you're doing the pubs, learn a few jigs.
I know I don't need to say it but take care, keep your wits about you and have a great time, Oh and be prepared for rain.
So here's wishing you a fantastic trip, it should be quite an adventure.
