Was picking up my Rumble 150 after the overdrive section was fixed and found a Martin I just couldn't leave behind! I like my Taylor, but big difference between a Mexican Taylor and an American Martin. And now can use the Ovation as just a camping guitar. Now just need to find a 12 string and my acoustic collection will be complete.

But of course! Has a few scratches and dings, but they look kinda good on a Martin so I didn't mind(except when talking to the salesman - gotta point out and complain about each one to get the price down of course!). I passed up a few dinged up Taylors till I settled on the one I got. Battered Taylors just don't look right to me.

Rumble has to go back to the shop again though. Worked for a few hours, made a loud pop, and the overdrive section blew again! Think the money they are losing on the warranty they are making back by me buying more stuff!

Not lucky with the Rumble! Overdrive section blowing twice in a few weeks! One more time back to the shop and that is it! They had a used Ampeg and some other used bass amp. Can't remember the brand but the model was "The Working Man's Fifteen". They said it was a bass amp company that Fender bought out a few years ago. When the Rumble was working right it sounded much better than either but if the OD section blows again they can keep it and I'll choose between the other 2. Unless I luck out and they have another Rumble 150 in the store now. Found a smaller Rumble at another store. Don't really need a 15 inch speaker in my house so might just get my money back and pick it up.

SWR?

I had an Acoustic 200 watt, 15" combo that was plenty loud and worked well for the year or so that I used it. The acoustic was far better than the similar Ampeg in a direct comparison, IMO.

SWR, I had a Workingman 2004 bass head, beautiful sounding 200 watts, I needed more power so traded for a 300 watt GK bass head. Hope your Rumble is ok.

Very Nice !!

Is that the DC-1E?

That's the Martin I have and it's terrific ! It's now like an old comfortable pair of jeans for me. I haven't even touched my Ovation (applause) or Epiphone in more than a year.

My buddy who played professionally for 30 yrs. (as in - that was his only job, as in - 40 hrs./wk. - played gigs, did studio work, TV, Commercial background, etc.) cannot leave my Martin alone when he's over. He says it has the sweetest tone of any acoustic he's ever played.

He raves about it so much, that his intended is going to surprise him with a Martin as a Wedding Gift - he's getting married in 3 mos. for the 1st time !!

My job is to surreptitiously get him into my go-to Ma & Pa store (a Martin Dealer) on the premise of checking it out. Once there, we'll gravitate to the acoustics and I'll have him rate the Martins for me, asking which one he'd like to have, which I then report back to his Fiance'. I'm also gonna get the owner to swing a deal for her.

Best of luck with it !!

cheers!

That can be so true !!

But, in my buddy's case, the girl he's marrying is his childhood sweetheart. They've been together 30+ yrs., own a home together, just never officially tied the knot.

AND... She's buying him a Martin as his Wedding Gift !!

I'm confident that his prospects for a long stable home life are excellent !

cheers!

Mine is the DCME. Not up with the Martin serial numbers so no idea how old it is. Kinda wish I did. Heard that for a couple years after their warehouse fire Martin used what was for them inferior tone woods and wanted to avoid those years.

Good luck with the Wedding Ruse! Hope your friend is surprised. I'm surprising my future daughter-in-law with my Les Paul as a wedding present - she plays the thing more than I do anyway.
