Subject title says it. Fender packages their bullet strings with three sets of two strings in a single package if that makes sense. Nobody that I can find will sell me individual strings like when you break one very early on. I use Ernie Ball strings on one Strat but love the bullets on my beautiful blue HSS QMT with locking tremolo. Can anybody shed some light on this subject.

Is there some particular reason that you want to stick with Bullets, when the exact same strings are available with ball ends? With a locking tremolo, it doesn't really matter what type of ends the strings have.....or am I missing something?

Personally, I don't care for the Bullets, and if you have a real vintage block, or an aftermarket block with the same shallow holes as the vintage (as I do on many guitars), the Bullets will stick out the back of the block.

Even if you have a locking tremolo it'll still make a difference.

I already have been there and they don't carry my specific string but thanks. Very close but no cigar. They look like much older strings and assembled in Mexico instead of U.S.

I would always go for Super Bullets as there were no windings to muck up the connection at the trem block.

However, recently I had a string pull out of the bullet and am now considering why I ever thought them a good idea. I probably won't bother in future and, as the OP, am a little frustrated that I seem to have dozens of heavier gauge bullets from packs I've had to split to make emergency string replacements.

I now have guitars with mixed bullets and conventional ends, and can't tell which string is which when installed, without looking at the back, so the accoustic difference between the two is obvious ....NOT!

That still has nothing to do with a locking tremolo, for which the ends of the strings are cut off.

The bullets fit perfectly inside the cavities of the tremolo and get great sustain and locked tuning, but yes the opposite string ends don't get wrapped and are cut off along with LSR roller nuts with mucho cojones.

Try calling them - they can get them. They supply a lot of 'name' techs
and performers too.

I am starting to think there is some confusion here as to what a locking tremolo is.
As already suggested the ball end of the string is cut off and end of the string is locked into place by a grub screw.

I guess I just have a weird one that locks at the saddle.

I tried calling them and they are closed for the weekend (Eastern time). On their web site they have single strings but a very limited selection but I will try them next week. They have one of my bullets that I am after (.042) super bullet but the image clearly shows Assembled in Mexico of U.S. and German (Bullet ends) materials and looks like old string with old packaging.
