I have wanted to record some of my Acoustic noodlings for a while now so that I could get a better idea what I needed to work on with my fingerpicking, after reading a few reviews, I forgot to post here but a few weeks ago I decided to pick up a USB Apogee MiC 96K and just run it into GarageBand on my Mac.

I was pleasantly surprised by how clear this new USB mic captured my Acoustic guitar and made it so easy to do this and wanted to share it, so for your amusement, literally minutes after un-boxing my new mic, here is my Acoustic instrumental take on Little Wing, my playing doesn't do justice to Jimi's version or Lawrence Juber's arrangement of it, I mean the bar is just set too high, so I just play my own parts when things get too difficult.

Oh yeah, this was actually done with the back door open and the guy at the back has an avery full of Parrakeets so I was also impressed that they didn't show up on the recording. I would suggest listening with headphones to get the best result, that's what I found anyway. Hopefully this will give anyone who is looking for a USB mic an idea of what it can sound like in the hands of someone with no clue about such things (Me).

And I have to say what relief it is, and so liberating to sometimes just put down the Strat, turn off the amps and pedals, forget dealing with Band members and just spend time alone playing a nice Acoustic (mine is a Martin OM-21 Special - I love it!)

Note: My apologies to Jimi

Hopefully this SoundCloud link will work OK.

Right on, brother.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I kicked back on the recliner, put on the EarPods, and thoroughly enjoyed your performance, Snowy. Very nice. :)
