I don't want to ruffle any feathers or point any fingers but you have posted over one hundred posts in the last 48 hours...

It seems like every 99% of your posts are one liners that are not helpful to the thread. It appears to me that you are just trying to raise your post count.

Not what I want to happen at all. I am on many boards, some that I have been on for over 10 years. I just know that post littering does not help a forum. I think that rewarding users with picks is part of the problem. But what do I know, I am just a college kid right?

The bottom line in my opinion is that I enjoy this forum. I am thankful that fender has given it to us (the users). I want to see this forum do well.

Yeah, I have to agree. Certain individuals seem to be making comments that have either already been mentioned in thread or comments that are just not really relevant to anything.

The pick rewards thing is part of the problem, but the other part is the "Every time you post this month, it counts as an entry in the 1-Year Anniversary giveaway." That is also contributing to people making posts for no real reason and unearthing posts from 6-months or more ago.

well actually it is if you post just one post you have just as much chance to win as if you post a hundred posts

And this affects your quality of life in what way?

Like FrankieP, I post on a few other boardsl, and every one has members whose posts are usually limited to "I agree", "lol", or something similar. It's no big deal.

Could be just a gut feeling here, but I can't really see this thread going anywhere positive any time soon -- mouse pointer currently hovering over the "Thread Lock" button watching to see how this shapes up. :-)

That said, I do want to interject two facts: (1) Posting a bunch doesn't give you any advantage whatsoever in the giveaway -- it's one entry per person, not one per post. That would have been foolish to set it up otherwise as it would have encouraged flurries of low-quality posts. (2) Anyone posting trying to get picks to light up is likely going to get bored with that game pretty quickly -- the last pick in particular is set at a level that only the most dedicated contributors here will ever achieve over the course of years of participation, and that's by design ... if they were relatively easy to get we'd see tons of folks posting trying to achieve them!

I didn't plan on commenting but now that it's been leveled a bit I'll add my opinion. As far as the picks are concerned I think they should be removed from the forum, when you see the number of posts a person makes then read a post you'll know who is or isn't the "rock star". It kills me to just read a post that is plan wrap spam.

Brad's right. The whole "pick" thing may seem exciting after the first one or two, but after that, you realize it's fun to post and theres no need to post excessive crap to get picks.
