I've seen conflicting reports about Behringer products but I think It's safe to say the vast majority of reviews are less than positive. My own experience is that they make poor quality gear. TC, on the other hand, makes some truly brilliant pieces. Might be time to stop putting off that purchase and just bite the bullet and grab what you can while you can before the Behringer bean counters destroy the line.

Just saying.

I have to completely disagree with the comments about Behringer. I've used their gear for a good many years now from mixers to rack gear (even a decent little cable tester) and it has served me VERY well. I think the -only- piece of Behringer gear I've ever had an issue with was the silly V-amp which I returned after just 2 weeks...and that wasn't so much about Behringer or quality as much as I've found that I just don't care for these digital amp simulators. I had the same negative reaction to the Line 6/POD gear as well (just nasty sounding regardless of brand). In fact I thought my Behringer 2004 mixing board had better sounding mic pre's than my buddy's Mackie (yes, we had them side by side)...that 2004 is a VERY clean sounding board. What's more is that 2004 is over 15 years old now, as is the dual 31 band eq and the feedback destroyer and I've never had a single problem with any of them. I've certainly used my little 802 for a number of recordings and recently broke it out for the new band because we needed a few extra mic channels...still works as well as the day I bought it. Perhaps I've just been "lucky" or perhaps I just take better care of my gear than others, but the majority of negative comments I've ever seen about Behringer seem to come more from the "gear snob" lot, particularly regarding the mixing boards, than anything specific regarding quality...always seemed like the folks who bought Mackie are the same people who crack on Behringer. In my mind at least, you always need to separate the snob bs from any legit comments regarding quality.

Interestingly enough, the lead singer in one of the bands I'm currently in uses one of those TC Helicon vocal harmonizers and he's had nothing but problems with the damn thing since the day he bought it new. -When- it works, it sounds really decent, but just as often it sits there and pops and whistles and makes some really ungodly ethereal noises. He's also had to replace the power adapter twice because it was prone to electrical interference (particularly some stage lighting at one specific bar). Not saying it's "poor quality", but it sure is a pain in the arse.

Just my own experience there but when it comes to inexpensive gear, sometimes you gotta take the comments with a large grain of salt.

I saw that article yesterday. There is the possibility that it won't effect TC products, but maybe in fact it could improve Behringer amp related stuff, if needed. It could go either way. As for that, the only Behringer thing I've ever had any experience with is a pair of headphones, and they've worked fine. I guess the main thing anyone has had the most complaints about was the bass amps, at least from what I've seen in the past.

Interesting news. I've found Behringer products to be hit or miss (much like Danelectro). There's some good stuff and some not so good. Love my T300 stereo panning tremolo. So much cheaper than an old BOSS PN-2 off of eBay or a Fulltone Supa Trem and it does the job.

How do you think the durability those pedals are? I know they were made of plastic instead of metal, so I've been a little apprehensive about them because of that. They are really cheap, though.

Interesting and a privately held company as well.

" In addition, the group develops and delivers semiconductors and supporting audio/video networking technologies for the professional and consumer electronics sectors. Further, it engages in the distribution of audio products; and offers speakers for rent. The group serves customers through a network of distributors and representatives worldwide. It also sells its products online. TC Group headquarters are located in Risskov, Denmark. The company has operations in Kungsbacka, Sweden; Coatbridge, Scotland; Aarhus, Denmark; Tokyo, Japan; Beijing, China; and Toronto, Ontario, and British Columbia, Canada."

Thanks, BMW-KTM for the heads up on this.

It will be interesting to see how this Behringer/TC grouping will work out. One should remember that TC Electronics is separate but affiliated with TCHelicon, Dynaudio, and Tannoy. All good products in their own right. As for Behringer, they were well respected earlier on, other than from what I have read and heard. It remains to be seen if quality consistency will come into play on either side. I'm happy with my TCH gear, so far.

Basically, I look at longevity this way. If I spend X dollars on something and I manage to get X dollars worth of satisfaction . . . it's like spending X dollars on a night out, and getting X dollars value that comes and goes. One would not want to pay more for less, however. Anything more would be a bonus. Champagne on a beer budget just isn't realistic. Even the best of anything can have shortcomings, and this can happen with your favourite restaurant, car, band concert, guitar, electronics or whatever. Hey, Jags have been bought and sold from Europe, through USA, and now from Asia, and in some ways they have improved. IMHO

I have to admit my Behringer 18" PA subs have been trouble free but I've had VERY bad luck with their electronic devices.

I'm just recording. I probably wouldn't gig with them as they don't appear to be all that durable.

Yeah, I had the feeling that might be the case.

I wonder if this has anything to do with why my TC Electronics delay pedal sold in less than an hour, yesterday on Reverb.com? A pleasant surprise for me!

Well, customer service cannot get worse than it was for TC. Out of three support requests to them, I have received exactly zero response. This does not appear to be an isolated experience either.

Some of the TC products are good, especially on the voice side, but some of their pedals are extremely digital sounding. There's room for improvement. Hopefully, new ownership will focus more on sound quality than features for the guitar end too.

My Behringer VT 999 Tube Monster is all metal and durable...most used foot pedal in my arsenal---wouldn't consider playing through SS amps without it. LOVE that thing.

My Behringer Eurorack UB1202 mixing board is really nice, and maintenance free. No buzzes or crackles. Does exactally what it is designed to do.

My Behringer Micro Mix MX400 cheapy 4 channel mic mixer is what it is...no frills...hook up 4 mics to control volume. It is good for what it has to do, and cost like 20 bucks. No noises, buzzes, crackles etc...good enough. REAL good for mic'n / mix'n a drum kit.

My Behringer AB100 Abby switch pedal is a complete and total plastic piece of junk, and if it weren't so inexpensive (I'm out $25.00), I would be kicking my own butt every day for buying the thing. Burned out in less than a month....and I NEVER tried to make it work hard by making it switch between two amps....I only used it to switch between two guitars hooked to one amp. Have to admit, it worked fine for what little bit of time it did work.
The good news is...you won't find this pedal very well any more...I think Behringer got word of its' crappiness, and do not offer it any more---the ones left out there are probably stock that businesses are having a hard time getting rid of. AVOID!!!

So; in my personal world, Behringer is pushing a 75% success rate in quality and functionality.

I will not be scared to continue purchasing Behringer products...but I WILL do my homework and research very well before clicking "Buy Now".

Some years ago Behringer bought Midas. I don't think that has made any negative impact to their quality.
I don't own any of their products , but I would love to have this one :

"X32 supports 44.1 and 48 kHz sample rates at 24-Bit".
In 2015, I'd think I would want 88.2 and 96 kHz support. Overlay two 48 kHz tracks, and the quality of the mix will average at 36 kHz equivalent, with worst case being 24 kHz equivalence. Upsample to 96 kHz and mix, then convert down again to 48, and you avoid that problem. But the Behringer can't.

As for 24-bit, that helps for mastering, but unfortunately, today everything gets compressed so much and loses so much dynamics that 8-bit is overkill. i wish it weren't so.
