I am having trouble locating a specific wiring diagram. I am looking for a 2 pickup, 1 push pull volume, 1 tone, 3 way toggle, coil taping the bridge only.

I currently have a similar setup installed on my guitar except the neck is also coil tapped. I want to replace the neck pickup with another one I have laying around. However it is a single conductor, so I am unsure how to wire it into my current setup.

I've tried various websites and haven't found the specific diagram. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend rewiring the pickup so that it's a 4 conductor instead of a single.

Thanks for the recommendation but that's a little more work than I want to do. Not to mention it's a delicate procedure with higher than average odds of ruining a pickup. Also, for this setup I don't have a need to a single coil in the neck.

None the less, I appreciate your input.

Maybe I should re-phrase my original question. How do you wire a single conductor pickup (inner core is hot, braided sleeve is ground) to a push pull pot? I am not looking to tap, split, run out of phase, etc the noted pickup.

If I'm interpreting your question correctly, you want to know how to wire a single conductor neck pickup into the circuit where the neck pickup before it was wired to a mini-switch. If this is correct, read on:

On the toggle switch, find the hot lead from the old neck pickup. Disconnect the old pickup's hot lead from this terminal. Solder the new pickup's single conductor hot lead in its place. Unsolder the rest of the old pickup out of the circuit. Solder the new pickup's braided wire (the ground) to the back of the volume pot. That's it. The push/pot is not used at all for the new pickup.

Martian thanks for your reply.

The push pot is my volume pot. The guitar is equipped with one volume and one tone control. Currently I have both neck and bridge wired to the volume push pull so I can split the coils. I would like to replace the stock neck pickup with a Seymour Duncan SH2 I have laying around. The "problem is it is a single conductor PU so I can't tap it, which is fine by me.

Not sure if any of that changes your response? Sounds like I wire the ground to the back of the volume pot and swap the old hot lead with the new one.

By doing so will the volume on the neck work regardless of the position of the push pull pot? Assuming my pick up selector is on the neck position.

You're quite welcome.

You are correct with the wiring and yes as to how the volume pot will work.

If you run into a phasing problem upon installing the Jazz, reverse the hot and ground leads of the bridge pickup.
