They should bring back some old school 1999 style web design. :P

Yes, they really should - the parts that were done better back then.
Graphics has improved over the years, but compatibility has declined. Designers felt a need to control everything, not understanding that in HTML, it's the client who controls presentation, not the server. Attempts to bypass that principle almost always leads to problems (like the search box disappearing on the top of the page depending on people's DPI settings and font sizes).
And identifying links were much easier back then too, because links would invariably be in a different color and underlined. Not the mystery meat navigation we see now, where you have to roll the mouse over things to see whether they actually are links. At the top of this reply page, "FORUM DESIGN CHANGES - AGAIN" is a link, while "POST A REPLY" is not. Both in big bold charcoal letters. "Fender Specialist" is not a link, while "Fender Forum Moderators" is. Both in red text on a black background.

I hate mystery meat navigation.

Next thing you know we'll be back to only having this open for
business during 9-5 (like the old days!)

Guys, this was a mistake on this end, plain and simple. The head-scratching revisions that you were seeing were not intentional nor will they be reintroduced. The appropriate skulls have been cracked on this end as a result of this scenario. Carry on.

Glad to see you're still aboard! Some here speculated that you were one of those that had to leave. I'm glad to see that's not the case.
And my scroll wheel thanks you too, for restoring things :)
