Yesterday , a jury found former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez, guilty of 1st degree murder in the 2013 shooting of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd. Because of this , Hernandez was sentenced to life with no parole. He is also expected to stand trial for killing 2 other men in Boston in 2012 in a drive by shooting. I know this isn't music related but, a bunch of us here are NFL fans and with the draft coming up , I'm hoping this will wake up the owners and have them scrutinize new players much more carefully . The NFL needs to evaluate new players not only on talent, but also on how they behave off the field as well.

Yep. Same applies to the scrutiny we need apply on our "law enforcement" officers.

Since we pretty much live in the same neck of the woods, I've been seeing the news coverage on that when I watch the local morning news. Instead of acting like a thug, he could have had at least some sort of career in sports, now he has to rot behind bars the rest of his life.

Since I joined the forum up until a few years back, there were always these "human interest" posts popping up. Personally, I like it and think the forum was better back a few years ago when people posted these types of things, allowing us to discuss more human things, too, within our Fender-approving guitarist community. Having only threads about "guitar pick materials" or "I thought I blew an amp fuse but didn't" can get a old after a bit. Just my opinion ...

Yeah, non music related topics suck donkeyballs, and so do the people who have turned this part of the forum into facebook. I usually avoid the facebook section of the forum, because as I said it sucks now. It was much better when the mods used to delete stupid crap like this thread. I just wanted to back up Minnesotastrats on this one.

When I first came on board here way back in 2007 , the forum would on occasion have human interest posts which were interesting and a welcomed break from the usual gear talk as Eibach stated. Back then , no one complained if a post like this popped up every once in a while and the forum was much more friendly back then. I was on board from 2007 - 2010 after which I had left and now that I returned several months ago, now that I dare to post something that is not music related , I'm getting a lot of flack to which I don't think is fair at all ! If you don't like what I post then the solution is right in front of your face, which is just don't read the damn thing and move on, problem solved !!!!

At the risk of a duplicate post appearing-one i just did did'nt take, allow me to re-try:

If we want this forum to simply be a dictionary on music subjects only, then maybe that should be done.
After all, how many of the same approximate subject matters are rehashed over and over again........forever?
In reality, the only time anyone complains about alternate subject threads, it's becuse that particular subject matter might cross the "happy happy....joy joy" threshold.
Just as in the world of music, life is'nt always "happy".
And that's why I'm happy simply excersizing my ability to avoid a buzz-kill thread.....if I prefer.

I feel we are much more than Fender guitar lovers. I sometimes find it interesting to read about other things that people come up with. The common bond of guitar/Fender makes it (usually) a good fit.

But I don't have to read them.
I can ignore them if I want.
My choice.

My 2 cents.

Peace, Gridlok

I had posted this because I'm sure there are a lot of NFL fans on here who were probably following this situation . Maybe this forum should have a separate area where we can discuss issues of the day such as Politics, Movies, TV, etc . What do you all say to that ? This would keep things away from the music related posts and not cause any dissension between forum members. The Seymour Duncan Forums has one, so why can't the Fender forums do the same ?

Those, among other subjects prone to awaken our most primitive feelings, and thus resulting in forum outbursts we'd regret come Monday, are expressively denied in the Forum Code of Conduct.
And I quote:
