Agreed. The music was almost tolerable, but the addition of the rapping/vocals/whatever put it into intolerable territory really quickly.

Needed a 4 second listen mid way in for me to work out it was shite.

I like vintage and modern.
I also like to mix the two.

The music I listen to is pretty eclectic, and it usually is based around my mood at the time, or as an educational tool in which I can draw from.

With my traps I may workout with jazz/big band, rock, or country. With the Strat I usually play oldies and classic rock (surf and pop included) for others to enjoy (and occasionally myself). The keyboard is often my go to concept tool, vocals aside.

The blues keeps me in the zone when I feel it in my bones, and it soothes my soul (unless it's party time).

Covering another's song is great fun, and it can be easy or difficult yet still rewarding; but, where I want to be and what I strive to do is to experiment with sound and compositions that are a mix of old songs (and new original songs, perhaps with old styles) brought to today's and, perhaps, tomorrow's selection. If that makes any sense. Basically, old 50s, 60s, and 70s/80s style done using whatever instrumentation I have within hands reach, more or less, complicated or minimal, and to the best of my ability with a twist of mojo.

I'm not there yet, because there's so many components to consider, and my abilities are the weak areas upon which to improve. I'm up to the challenge. I only hope my age will not prevent me from reaching my goal. Would I like to have made a slew of great songs? Who wouldn't? One really good song will make me a happy camper considering there are some awesome one hit wonders. Having said that, I also know that, once in a while, something good comes along when least expected, so now is the time to get into the habit of laying down tracks on a regular basis.

Put it all together, grab what I can from years of experience, pay attention to new and old trends, add a little showmanship, and there you have it. A show! Good or bad. Choose your poison, stir it up, and add your garnish. Mediocrity doesn't cut it IMHO. YMMV.

Meanwhile, I give thumbs up to all the talent here.

Cheers!

FSB

My reason for not posting any original music yet is like "no wine before it's time." Others here already have a great enjoyable vintage to appreciate. Still in the end, it's all about having fun.
