It's no secret to those who have known me for a few years that I am living with an enormous case of GAS and especially for innovative effects units. One of the more recent additions to my pedal arsenal was the Electro Harmonix B-9 pedal.About a month ago I got an email from Mike Matthews et al announcing the release of a new addition to the organ sim pedals-the C-9.I clicked the link on the email that led me toa demo and I was just gobsmacked by the sounds that came from that little box.I was floored with the B-9's closeness to capturing the Hammond tonewheel and keyclick emulation (I have 2 vintage Hammond tone wheel models,so I'm familiar with the tone) far better than anything that I own or have ever heard. The C-9 is just as awe inspiring if not moreso, the demo just astounded me-you can even get Mellotron tones and a setting that sounds like the Lowery "Heritage Deluxe" that was used extensively on Sgt. Pepper, most notably for the intro of Lucy in The Sky....not a Hammond RT-3 or L-100 as some reports stated.Anyway in the EHX's own demo they had a spot where they played a guitar with a split signal going to both a B-9 and C-9, each with its own amp and the effect was absolutely stunning, especially with a slight delay on one pedal.I can't wait for the little gem that I ordered to come in and I hook them up to my Vox AC-15 and Pathfinder 15R and put one of my Strats through it all.BTW: I have put the B-9 through my Tech-21 RotoChoir Leslie simulator and the effect is mindblowing,so when I get all of that set up I might sell my old Hammonds...I don't think that will ever happen-even if it would make the missus tremendously ecstatic.....lol.

I saw the demo on the B9 and C9, and I have to say I was impressed big time. They seem to work without a delay like a guitar to MIDI organ patch would....... I liked the look of those two.

There's no cure either-you have to keep feeding the monster.

Yah, but I was in remission and the future was looking bright. I have resisted GAS on so very many occasions the past year or so but then this Derek fellow, who knows my weaknesses, goes and purposely flaunts this in my face.

Derek, you're getting a little old to still be clinging to the "misery loves company " excuse.

I've heard the demo for those pedals. Pretty interesting stuff. Of course, I'd like to try and play bass through one as well.

Hi Strings, the reason that you didn't see the new toy was given away in the title of the post "Another New Toy On Its Way To Me." I was talking to the guys in the music store today when I dropped by and they are expecting it to be in their Monday morning shipment. If it's in the shipment I will get the pix of it up as soon as my computer savy buddy drops by and gives me a hand because as a confirmed Luddite, any printing medium more complicated than crayons and pencils is beyond my grasp. It's funny that I can single handedly set up a complicated PA system with amps, pre amps, crossovers etc. and rewire an electric guitar, but download or upload a pic etc. it's just as well to ask me to explain nuclear fission and dark energy.

I haven't heard the demos, however I did notice this pedal advertised in a recent edition of Vintage Guitar magazine and have to admit that I'm curious. I doubt I'll get one as I'm quite happy with the organ sounds I get out of my guitar synth, however if these really do work as advertised, it's something that will definitely get filed in the mental note box...if no other reason, than I'm curious as to how they pulled it off. Seems like people have been trying to get "organ-like" tones out of guitars for many years now and so far the only thing that's managed to sound decent was a guitar synth...I really gotta wonder how they finally did it.

Well .... I have the B9 and I'd say it's something similar to a synth. You hear very little of the guitar except when using the blend option.

Hi Tiger J,I don't have the Korg Miku Hatsune -yet-frankly I haven't heard of them.I have some multi-effects pedals that are capable,of doing some pretty freaky things that I haven't heard in other pedals. The Yamaha Magic Stomp can make some sounds that would make you think that you are on another planet and the TC Electronics Nova Modulator is also capable of creating some of the nicest modulation effects you could ever want to hear but it also can create other-worldly sounds-sometimes when you least want it to-but that's always caused by user error.

I'd be very interested in seeing what the Korg pedal can do,I know that if it's made by Korg, that it's of the highest quality, performance and reliability.Do they have demos on Youtube etc. and what's their price range? Father's Day is coming up in a couple of months so I'll put that on my wish list if it's not too costly and is weird enough to interest me.Thanks for letting me know about it.

The Korg Hakune Miku Stomp is definitely weird enough.
I have one, and it turns my guitar into a female staccato singer. It's not polyphonic, so I have to play a single note at a time, slowly.
But the fun factor is high. The thing I don't like is the switch position, which makes Hakune Miku look futunari.

Yyyyyep... *sigh*
OK, who else wants to take my money.
Get in line while I'm feeling weak.
Boss?, Eventide?

I've always wanted the B-9, might as well cave in for both now.
Very way cool, thanks for posting!
And enjoy!
