picked up a barely used Vox AD30VT amp this weekend. Found it on craigs for $100 and jumped on it. was looking for a nice solid state to practice on. The modeling presets are very nice and the on board effects are actually very responsive as well. really impressed. Makes the strat deluxe sound very sweet indeed.

Good buy. I have a VTX. On these amps you need to keep all of the in and out jacks clean or the amp starts to sound like they are losing power. I spray mine with contact cleaner and move a cable in and out of each one as I spray. I do this about once a month. Here's a good site for info on these amps:

That's a good deal for $100.00. Those are really loud amps. Enjoy.

The Vox Valvetronix models are the most realistically tube sounding of all the hybrid amps that I have tried. The secret to their tubelike tone and response is largely due to the fact that the 12AX7 tube is put in the power amp section as opposed to the preamp section as in most other hybrid amps-even their sister/cousin Marshall amps. Having the tube in the power amp section allows the clean solid state signal go into the power amp rather than having it often go to the power amp distorted as in other hybrids. The effects of the Valvetronix are also incredibly like those they are supposed to be emulating, especially the modulating effects such as the UniVibe and Leslie settings which actually ramp up and slow down gradually just like the real McCoys. The reverb/delay sections of the amps is also sublime. I have one of the first of the Valvetronix amps with the blue grill cloth-which many attest is the best of the bunch-an AD-120-VTH and I run that through a Vox 412 BN Stereo cabinet and use the Vox VC-12 Footcontroller. With the optional controller, the Valvetronix amps are probably the most versatile multi-function amps of all time as you can set up any number of effects,eq settings and amp models that you desire by using the 4 almost instantly accessible and pre-programmable banks. You got yourself an incredible amp for the money,if you were to pick up a VC-12 Footcontroller-I believe that they are compatible with the current Valvetronix too-you'd open up all kinds of options and increase your pre-sets in far greater numbers.Enjoy.
