Well, we had a whisky thread, so I thought I'd add a beer one. I've been trying various beers from the local package store and came across this: http://sixpoint.com/beers/cycliquids/hi-res They come in 4-pack cans and are 10.5% ABV, which is actually the strongest beer I've ever had. The second one was La Fin Du Monde, which is from Quebec at around 9%, that I tried many years ago. I'll tell you, one of these and I wasn't feeling any pain and after four of them I am almost on my arse. :P Pretty potent stuff and I'm not exactly a lightweight when it comes to drinking (probably genetics, since I'm Russian, Ukrainian, French, and English :P )

Anyhow, if you feel like giving this a shot and it's available where you live, then go ahead. I think it's pretty good anyway, sans it's kick.

Yes that is a nice DIPA, nice and hoppy I do like Heady Topper

That's pretty cool that you also brew your own. Years ago, I played in this band where the drummer brewed his own beer. It was pretty good stuff.

Well today I decided not to go craft beer and went more or less the UK route with some Boddingtons Pub Ale (which has been many years since I've had that,) Murphy's Irish Stout (don't remember if I ever had this, but probably did back in the 90's,) and some Ballantine IPA (I never had Ballantine in a bottle, which this is, but then I realised it isn't the same one as the XXX ale and even has a different website. So who knows about this one, but it does have 7.2% ABV.)

I almost bought some more Samuel Adams, especially the Cream Stout, but changed my mind the last minute. The funny thing is that the Cream Stout has more alcohol than the Boddingtons or especially the Murphy's, so if the flavor spectrum is the same or similar, I'll probably go with the Samuel Adams if I want that again.

I'm not sure if I can get Heady Topper where I live. Their cans are interesting looking, that's for sure. I've actually bought beer because of the bottle design/label before. That reminds me that recently I tried called Limbo IPA from Long Trail brewery, who I believe are based in Vermont:

I liked it a lot, but they didn't seem to have any in stock the last couple times I was in there. If you look at the tree where the skeleton is sitting, there is a crow sitting there above it's head. There is also a print of a crow inside the bottle cap.

Was in Ft. Lauderdale's version of The Tilted Kilt and what did I see on tap? Guinness American Blond Lager !! Interesting and a bit unusual. It tasted like a cross between a Sam Adams Lager and an IPA. Not bad, but I need to try it again.

Guinness Extra Stout is still the Nectar of the Gods for me.

Oh yeah, they had the Guinness American Blonde Lager at the store and they also had the Black Lager there as well. I though about getting it, but went with the Boddingtons and Murphy's Irish Stout instead. I had the Murphy's last night and it's sort of like Guinness, but not as rich (if that is the proper term) tasting to me and looks like chocolate milk when you pour in in a glass. It only has 4% ABV, so it's a little weaker than Guinness and Samuel Adams. I'm not sure what to make of it. I love the Samuel Adams and I think I like the Guinness a lot better, too. It's one of those things where you might like it, but there's others that you might like to get instead. There's been a couple of beers like that for me. I still have the Boddingtons and Ballantine to go.
