Tool of the trade for me. But I don't like to think about it like that because it's something that means much more to me than just making money. It won't be a tool of the trade forever but it will always be a love and a hobby of mine.

Ocassional tool. Calling my guitar a hobby is like calling my right arm a hobby. Life would be difficult without either one. I'd rather think of it as an integral part of who I am. I'd choose going blind before I'd choose giving up playing guitar.

A life long friendship !!!!

an extension of my self

a way to express sadness and contentment

but to answer your question I have been on a few stages but never for pay and I would like it to stay that way and so a hobby I guess.

Hello OldPat,

My insrtuments are my hobby.

Never made a cent playing the Guitar,
but my bagpipe playing earned me
a few extra tidings.

Cheers.

My guitar would be considered a tool of the trade I suppose. I play regular gigs with my Melodic Death band. I fix amps and guitars etc for my job. like wiring pick ups into guitars etc and replacing them.

Mostly hobby.
At one time they were potential tools as I went through the whole jamming and trying to start a band thing.
They were tools later--especially when I was teaching guitar, but I thought of them as more than tools.

Now it's hobby again.
I do play in church sometimes, but that's not for money--that's for fun, joy, worship and enjoyment.
