If i put a 6.8k resistor between lug 1 and 3 on a 25k potentiometer; will i get around 6.8k ohms?

It will be less than 6.8K. But your bigger problem will be lug 2, the wiper at midpoint on a linear taper will still be 12.5K to 1 or 3.
What you're doing won't work like you want it to. They don't make 6.8Kpots, so use a 5K pot with a 1.8K resistor on pin 1 or 3 in series

Alright. Thanks for the info!

So if I dime the 5k pot with a 1.8k resistor on pin 1 or 3 in series i will achieve 6.8k ohm?

I did not find the 5k pot with a required bracket mount.. Does the bracket fill any purpose besides securing the pot to the board?

The best thing was if i just could mount a 6.8k resistor instead of the pot and be done with it.

You could try this with a 10k pot.

For what purpose?

Just use a 10K pot and set it to 6.8K (or wherever) and be done with it.

The purpose is I tend to find mid pots distracting.. I hate going to play some guitar in my room and instead of trying to play.. I find myself tone-chasing instead. Now i just set the bass and treble and I am good to go. If it sounds bad when I play, I can assure myself it AINT the amp!

I removed the pot, installed the resistor from lug 1 to 3 and bridged the hole the 2nd lug used to be to the 1st lug. It works wonders!

To anyone that looks to do the same thing - the bracket did not make a difference.
