Is there really a difference between the pups on these guitars. Of coarse i am a aware that the strat has an extra pup, and more tone control, but are the bridge and neck pups the same?In otherwords can the exact same tone be heard from a strat like a tele?

I am aware they are two different guitars.
I have a 94 American strat plus a American Vintage tele and they sound very similar to my ear. I know there is more variation on the strat, so again I pose the same question, can a tele sound be obtained from a strat?

The modern Teles; (my 60th anni. sounds nothing like an updated tele) have thier own unique sound; this comes from the specs on the pickups specifically and the placement of the pickup in what I call the "tone zone" on the guitar.
If you'll play a string at different locations along it's entire length you'll hear a the SAME NOTE but a DIFFERENT TONE; this happens (I believe) because of the differing lengths the vibration in the the string travel to the bridge and nut; and maybe by these "traveling vibrations" bumping into each other; I don't claim to know the science but this makes sense to me.
The closer to the nut or bridge a string is plucked the more tin-ie the tone.
Pick up placement in the "tone zone" takes advantage of this phenomenon; and thus determins the TONE we hear; other things influance all this as well but they are MOSTLY SUBJECTIVE; meaning you'll get a "right" answer from everybody because it's an OPINION; for example the type of wood; finish, where the NOTE was STRUCK in the scale...cords, amps, cabinets, speakers, room, humidity, placement in a room,,,,,,did the player have on his Fender forum T shirt... opps not yet!
