I picked up this Epiphone Casino Coupe last week.

Image

So far I am loving it. It has a nice bite and sounds nice and raunchy with some drive.
The neck feels good and its light!

I traded in 2 guitars and a bit of cash. I traded my Epi Nighthawk and a Squier Tele Custom II.
Although I loved the sound, I never bonded with the Nighthawk. The middle pickup was always in the way of my strumming. It also cramped my fretting hand.
I traded the Squier Tele because I didn't play it that often. It sounded good and played well, but I felt I needed to add something different to my guitar line up. That guitar had P90s, so I was a bit aprehensive about trading it in, as it was my only P90 guitar, but what does the Casino Coupe have? You guessed it, P90s!

oh wow, I guess I'm getting out of touch with the Epiphone models, I see this is a Casino with an ES-339 sized body. Interesting! Well it looks great! Gotta love those P90's.

Nice looking guitar. The Beatles managed to do okay using them. I agree that having a semi hollow archtop is a nice option to have.
I used my Thinline Tele with P90's for band rehearsal the other night. That's the perfect situation for P90's, because you can let them sing and not worry about the noise. At the end of one song, the bass player said, damn that sounds good. That's what you want to hear! :)

Casino = full hollow, no center block

The size was one of the things that attracted me to the guitar. I was playing a full size casino and the salesman I usually talk to tells me about the coupe and says he has one in the back.
I played it for about 15 min and I bought it!
As always, I buy gear when there is no jam in the near future. Damn! I guess I have to wait to really put it through the paces!

So what do they attach the pups and bridge to? My Guild Starfire is a full hollow body with a floating bridge and Bigsby. You don't see that combo too often. Unbelievably, I don't have any tuning issues, the bridge stays in place and the strings glide over it.

Been having an itch for the Casino or the Wildkat. Played the Wildkat but they didn't have a Casino in stock. I don't plan on keeping the Epi P90's in it though.

Nice guitar yodacaster! The pups look the same as those on the Widkat. The chrome pup cover on the bridge for the Wildkat is too big, and is in the way of lowering the action to where I want. I did get the action fairly low, it's playable, but the pup cover is very close to the strings. Is it the same on the Casino?

The Wildkat is awesome, I played one at a friends house the other night, and ordered one for myself as soon as I returned home. I tried another Wildkat at GC, but the fret edges were horribly protruded and jagged, but the one that I got has good fret edges. I have an Ibanez Artcore that looks similar to the Casino, and it is a very nice guitar too. Epiphone, and Ibanez, make some decent guitars. :)

That's a nice guitar! I'd love to get my hands on one of those to try out.

I hear you about the P90's, I now have 2.5 with them and they're my favorites to play. (Epi Wildkat, and 50's tribute SG. the .5 is a Schecter with a p90 in the neck- it's what first attracted me to it.) Feed that SG some gain, and it growls like no other!

The top. (picture for reference, this is not a Casino):

Image

"Unlike semi-hollow body guitars such as the Gibson ES-335, which have a center block to promote sustain and reduce feedback, the Casino and its cousin, the Gibson ES-330 are true hollow-bodied guitars. This makes it lighter, and louder when played without an amplifier, but much more prone to feedback than semi-hollow or solid-body electrics."
