When I got my Schaller bass bridge in the mail I noticed I had ordered one with roller saddles.

Advantages? Disadvantages?

I can see how roller saddles could have an advantage when using a whammy bar but this is a bass. Do rollers provide a less solid connection to the rest of the bridge than a regular saddle?

Thanks in advance.

From a physics/engineering point of view, I am fairly certain that it will reduce the amount of vibrations parallel to the strings being transferred from the strings to the guitar and from the guitar to the strings. But that is dwarfed by the amount of vibrations that's perpendicular to the strings, and which a roller bridge should have no difficulties with.
So no, I don't think you should hear a difference because they are rollers.

I think the main differences will be easier fine tuning, much like a well lubed nut, and a reduced risk of string breakage. The only worry I would have is doing half-mutes by resting my hand on the edge of the bridge. Whether that will work would depend on the construction of the rollers, I think. Can't say I have seen bass players do it, so it may not be something you'd do anyhow.

It is highly doubtful if you consider the fact the the string exerts pressure on the roller which exerts pressure on the intonation screw, etc. Further, the tolerance of the roller's thread to that of the intonation screw's thread is no more or less than that of a stationary saddle. It is also very possible that with a roller saddle, there may be even more string to saddle contact vs. a stationary one, hence more sustain.
