How cool is this? You can actually see the strings oscillate as he plays.

Hit record video. Place iPhone inside a guitar. Shoot into bright sunlight with a high shutter speed.

The duty cycle for the high-e string is most intriguing.
It almost looks more like a pulse than a wave.

Well, not exactly. I'd call it more of an interference pattern between the camera's capture rate and the string's real vibration. It's an aliasing artifact, just like wagon wheels that run backwards and bendy propellor blades. Also google for "flying rods" images.

If the strings actually did vibrate like that, they would sound many octaves higher they do, even higher than heavy metal "squealies".

It's still a cool video though. Too bad he didn't record it in landscape orientation.
