i saw the DVD fender bible thread in the strat forum and it got me wondering what is considered the best book about the history of fender and the product line? I see there are tons of them out there from a google and amazon search but is there one that is generally considered the "one" to get?

I have almost all Fender Books , I do not have the bible . I see inside this book .

The best book for general Fender story is , IMO ; I have the first edition bought in 2003 , not the centennial

I've been curious about the one about the amps. One of these days I'd love to actually read that.

For Fender Amps..."The Soul of Tone". For the guitar line..."Fender, The Sound Heard Round the World" by Richard Smith. Both great books, good accurate info and some of the finest photography of Fenders Guitars and Amps you're likely to ever see.

Those two just about cover it all...for now.

The last time I was in a Barnes & Noble bookstore, they didn't seem to have anything Fender related, so I guess I'll have to order one from Amazon.com. I usually get most of my stuff from there anyway, primarily for the same reason. Nothing available locally.

Don't know about the guitar one as I've never read it, but agree 100% on "The Soul of Tone"! It's great.
