I finally found one!

Today I got my hands on a brand new Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster in surf Green. Gorgeous looking guitar, with a lacquer finish. (love that smell!) Tried it out via a Delta Blues they had, and fell in love. That familiar, comfortable Fender playability, but with a sound totally different than my Strat.

So far, my favorite setting is with both pickups selected. Chimey and percussive- almost piano-like. The bridge pickup is somewhat hot, and sounded great on the gain channel.

I'm totally stoked! Been looking for one of these for ages.

The neck is lacquered, but so what? So are those on my Gibson guitars. I do see what you all mean about the bridge- when you bend the low E string hard, the whole saddle deflects sideways, too. The string does stay in the saddle, though, and the intonation screws are far enough away to not be a problem. If it does become an issue, I'll just slap a Tune o matic or Mustang bridge in it.

Congratulations on your new guitar, and the surf green color is a huge plus, enjoy.

Well, he didn't say he actually bought it and brought it home, just "found one" and "got his hands on it".

For all we know, it could still be in the store hanging on the wall. If only there were some way to prove whether or not he actually owned it.......hmmmmm. :?:

CORRECTION:

After doing some research, I discovered that I erred when posting the model that I bought.

What I actually got is: Fender Classic series 60's Jazzmaster Lacquer.

so, it has:

vintage frets
American Vintage '65 Jazzmaster Pickups
alder body/maple neck
NC lacquer finish
etc

came with a nice hard case, too.

The pic on the website does not show the true color of this guitar- it's too blue. This is that pastel green color.
