It's done and I finally did some photos of it.
This is a Modkits DIY tube driven true point to point reverb kit.
It doesn't sound like a Fender, but I didn't expect it to. It has three 12AX7's and one 12AT7 preamp tube. It sounds huge, warm and cavernous. I have use a footswitch for it and when you turn it off at the footswitch it let the notes decay out. It's a long tank a little over 16 inches. Nice unit, nice parts and a fairly easy build. I swapped out the JJ's 12AT7 for a NOS JAN Phillips 12AT7. It's just a lot quieter.

Here's some photos I did of it this afternoon.

That tank looks B. E. A. utifull. Great job and craftsmanship. I've been looking into that unit to replace my surf rider. How does it take pedals? I'm assuming pedal board (for those of us who use them) into reverb unit into amp?

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys! I plugged my pedal board into it and I have all kinds of overdrive and fuzz pedals a Deja Vibe III and so far so good. It can get an enormous amount of Reverb and towards the higher end past noon it actually way too much. It's nuts. It's a little darker sounding than a Fender Reverb, but I really like it.

That's good to know. You plan on keeping it as is or is there a custom built cabinet in its future?

I want to do a cabinet. This is set up for a rack mount. I never had a rack mount, I just finally built a pedal board.

That rates a Holy Schmokes on the T2 Scale! What craftsmanship! You gonna put it into a cabinet of some sort? Would almost seem a shame to hide that!

Thanks T2! I'm going to eventually going with a cabinet, just to protect it. I have an agenda now to try to get forum members to try and build something for their rig. A pedal, an amp, their own cables, whatever. It's a fun, learning experience. Kits are great and if you can solder, have patience and follow instructions, you can do it. My next big project might be a Supro Model 24. I'm sourcing a cabinet. Man, this stuff is addicting.

I'm with T2 on this one...get some Lexan cut down to size and maybe add some LEDs for highlight. Really nice work. I've seen production assemblies that don't look as clean.

I got into electronics soon after getting my first electric guitar and I haven't stopped building stuff since. My entire pedal board (and the board itself) consists of stuff that I made (and sometimes designed) in my workshop. I agree how satisfying (and addicting) this can be. More good news? Yet another avenue for GAS relief...no...I don't need it, I just want to build one.

I've mourned the loss/damage/failure of my vintage boxes from the 70s and 80s, but remaking them has also been a great experience. I'd also encourage folks to try something simple (overdrive pedal?) and see how it goes...

Cheers.

That does sound like a great agenda! I have always wanted to do a build, maybe a pedal to start out. But it will have to wait...I just received my VIN number for my new Corvette is ready for transit to me hear. I might be pushing my luck to tell the wife I am going to start another build or spend any money for at least a short time!
