Wow! The first album I ever bought was The Monkees, their self-titled debut. It was even in stereo!

Still love Louie Shelton's trebly Tele work.

+1000!

The opening riff to "Last Train To Clarksville" is a timeless classic!

I was in 5th grade and just saw the Beatles movie "the Yellow Submarine". I loved the song Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, so I ended up buying -- without realizing it -- the greatest album ever made ... What a pick.

First 45 was "Telstar" by The Tornados
First LP was "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".

I think I saw him do that bit on Ed Sullivan. It is to laugh.

As a youngster, the Tele sound was the sound of an electric guitar.

Heard an interview the band gave - they hated the song but got stuck playing it! Over and over and over.

"Meet the Beatles" was first LP
"She Loves You" first 45, on Swan Records (maybe Capitol didn't think it would be a hit???)

"Get Together" by The Youngbloods on 45 single.

"Come on people now, smile on your brother, everybody get together, try to love one another right now".

When I was a kid, my mom went Saturday shopping and my dad and I went with my allowance to a Sally Ann thrift shop where we rummaged the records (mostly 78s).

Later we would play them all afternoon and keep the best. I thank my Dad today for having introduced me to traditional, classical, big band, jazz, pop, early rock and more.

My first record was cut on a record player with a mic and a cutting stylus on the tone arm. My folks recorded my first words to send to my Grandmother on the other side of the country. I still have that record.

But, my first commercial records , including a Zulu tribe chanting a traditional song, came on 16 rpm as did most children's records of that day.

I've come a long way, and now I'm into dithering; but, I can't remember buying my first flash drive or what my first MP3 was. As for the Cloud, I'll make a note for my first upload.
