Fabulous, all the way around, Mike. Great vocals, well thought out arrangement, groovy guitar, and terrific execution and mix. A winter home run. Thanks, for adding the Christmas cheer!

Blue Notes: Nice album you have there, Gary. I had time to kick back today and played it all. The selection flows nicely. I liked it, and it made the morning. Thanks, for posting it. :D

From the land of Lenny Breau and Ed Bickert, i have to say your Flight 65 was in the pocket, Nat. Nice!

Yamaha makes some incredible keyboards for the price IMHO. I know because I have an inexpensive gifted Yamaha keyboard that does the job, although, the miniature LCD screen is difficult for these aged eyes (bad enough the fingers don’t work); however, because Yamaha forgot to pick up this baby brought from Tokyo for a Japanese contest winner’s performance, I got to play after work for weeks with this Grand Daddy and it’s hot rodded Leslie clone at the time. :D I was saddened by the fact that it was out of reach and I missed it terribly when it left; but, at least there was a Hammond B3 and Yamaha Grand in the studio corner, but not in my corner. :P

Nat, your keyboard and playing sounds great. Keyboards have come a long way, but it still takes talent, and you have it. Enjoy those faux ivorys. :D

Hey strat thank you so much for the post..really appreciate that you took time out to listen..thank you for the compliment as well. That thing sounds sweet!at least you got to play it which must have been a treat in itself. And I agree about the more bang for your buck with Yamaha. The reason I got it was because it was all I could afford right now,but boy was I surprised by how much the technology has come like you said.I don’t think they would be able to fit all the features it has now back 3 decades ago without making it as big as a house..lol! It’s incredible what they have done with the current wave of keyboards and instruments and electronics in general such as recording these days.

My pleasure, Nat.

I got an early introduction to electronic versions of age old instruments with both drums and keyboards, ironically, both percussion instruments.

Being a drummer, I like others, didn’t take to drum machines or alike for some time. While there were some cool inaccurate and accurate skin reproductions, anyone with close live experience could tell that electronic cymbals sounded more like pots and pans or spoons hitting a glass. I really wanted to see that hurdle achieved. What they did not sound like were real cymbals with their full body, fading sustain, bell ring, and nuances. That was even more evident when combined with close sounding electronic drums. Oddly, non realistic skins could be a welcomed addition. Not so with the cymbals. They seldom sounded like quality Zildjians, Paiste, Sabians, or Zyn, and if they sounded good at all they might sound like cheap offshore knockoffs. Today, you’ll find very good reproduction (especially when sampled), but also some terrible or just okay reproduction of cymbal sound - or cowbell.
With keyboards the development, as you mentioned, Nat, has gone leaps and bounds in a tiny package per se. The first electronic keyboards nailed organ sounds way better than piano and it’s relatives. For years we had novelty and less than desirable (annoying IMHO) toylike (not to be confused with the good stuff) midi. Although, it doesn’t work for me YMMV. Some of that has hung around . . . simply because it can. I have it, used it for fun and experience, and pretty much retired the old school midi. For me, nothing worse than going to a concert that is up and rockin’ when suddenly a dime store Pac-Man midi kicks in to lose the vibe. However, in my personal space, I dig Pac-Man and (Ssssh!) dumbed down midi. :P
Wow! Times have definitely changed. Today, not only can these tools reproduce numerous electronic keyboards, but you can have any number of brand name grand pianos or synthesizers in one small package, and with software you can add even more. An orchestra on stage or in your home is pretty nifty. Sampling, special effects, and easy recording adds icing on the cake.

I’m still a young guy in an old shell, but I remember having a toy piano (the size of a big book) and all it did was “plink”. Kids are lucky today. Especially, the big kids.

Hmm? I wonder if those plastic 3D printers can be made to make an LP.
