+1 on that.

Pretty cool. 8) That is a nice sounding guitar, Mark. I'd say you'd definitely got your money's worth, at least. 8)

I have a looper and it’s pretty limited as it is just an addition to the TCH vocal/guitar effects pedal. I haven’t spent much time with it, but I know the timing of rec/play can be difficult at first. Yours sounds good and your tone is very nice indeed. Nice work, Alex.

Hi FSB !
My looper ( EHX 2250 stereo looper ) has a rhythm track . You can load your own rhythm patterns there in wav format . 99 ones . Yes, without rhythms, looper is boring. And it's hard to synchronize. But the rhythm track solves all these problems :D
Thank you all for the feedback!

When I bought the Strat I got a screaming deal on TC Helicon’s VoiceLive Play GTX Vocal/Guitar pedal with a Switch 3 pedal and bag included. Aside from the original 200 and now my 500 firmware updated presets (albeit some duplication, but enough settings to choose from . . . the newer and similar VLP Electric pedal having an alternative selection, etc.) and the fact it was designed in my former home town, it was a no brainer. It is said to be one of the better vocal pedals, and with a guitar plugged in as well, that seems to be the case; although, I still prefer harmonizing with overdubs through my Lexicon or in post production. Another vocalist would be another alternative. Then again there are times when the TCH VLP GTX comes to the rescue. Another piece of gear to tweak.
The pedal’s looper will do 30 seconds with undo, and 1 minute recording/playback without undo. An unlimited amount of overdubs is available. Sadly. no storage which is the downside. For now that is not a priority and I suppose the computers’ software could remedy that on short notice.

Still your robust EHX 2250 stereo looper is an excellent choice, Alex
On a side note: Back in my dinosaur days, we got by and great music was made without many of today’s wonderful and not so wonderful gadgets. I remember my razor blade and editing tape embracing the Ampex recordings made on magnetic tape. To repeat a sound effect or musical selection I would make two cuts of the reel to reel tape (sometimes across the width and sometimes at around 60 degree opposing angles) leaving a selection of magnetic tape the length of my arm per se. Then we’d adjust the length, join the ends with editing tape, and fit the recording up and around the tape heads, levers, capstans, guides, reels and so on making one continuous loop that could circumnavigate the path running the audio over and over. Getting the timing right on the initial recording was an art in itself and sometimes it was “take what you have”. A similar loop could be used with a different record/playback setup for reverb (as specific tape reverb machines do). That my friends is likely where the name “Looper” comes from. And no! It is not named after me; although, someone deserves the royalties.
Nowadays, many digital fans are trying to reproduce tape. Well, to quote and honour the Fats, “Ain’t that a shame?” :P

We have a "club" on SoundClick and every six weeks is a song challenge with a different
theme. It's not a contest but rather a challenge to compose and record a song for the chosen
theme. The theme this time was a "Dance Ditty" - I decided to get funky:

Here is the player with "Dance Dittys" from all the other participants:

Great idea.

Before all the media out today, it wasn’t long ago when neighbours went from house to house gathering to share in making music. While that still happens today, it is less common in this digital world. Legendary Chuck Berry gave us a lot of good tunes and times. He is, however, reportedly to have said that he made music primarily to buy his Cadillacs.

Music is meant to be fun for all to enjoy. Your “club” obviously subscribes to that theme. Thanks, for your post. Mike.

I like that very much Mike and I'm still listening to your music in the background. I think what you guys are doing is a great idea. Very cool. 8) Thanks for sharing.

I think this is one of your better ones, Mark. That must be one sad road trip because this one is headed in the right direction. Mighty fine ambient geetar tone in the distance, and the photo(s) are great.

We don't have much of that old gas station look up here like in the States. Imagine the stories they could tell. Your stories are a great replacement and addition.

FSB

If I am correct, a second look at the gas station makes me think it's a painting. The girl inside the doorway is cool. As for the motel, it should have a sign that says recording studio because the acoustics are interesting. IMHO.

Thanks FSB! Glad you liked it! My mom got too old to live by herself and my sister and I flew in to help her sell her house before she moved to live with my sister in Hawaii and I drove her old car back to AZ... so it was kind of an emotional drive! The gas station is in Bowie, AZ and taken with my old broken cell phone -- I kind of like the messed up effect the broken lens gave these photos! Just me sitting at the end of a bed finger strumming my Recording King Dirty 30's parlor guitar!

:)
