Thanks FSB Image such a beautiful poetic picture . I think music as well as poetry is a reflection of some kind of wave energy. This is non-verbal information. Kind of something big. But even a small part of it really excites .May be not very often though :D

My pleasure, Alex. It truly is a wonder how senses compliment each other.

However, I am of the belief that it is not equal to all. I believe that even gender, for example, can play a role. A great many more (notice I did not say all) females do not show an equal ability to visualize without example. Working with a set and art department, I saw this many times, and yet some of the designs were created by women, as they often are. True that all males do not have this ability, but less females seem to support it. Maybe it is self inflicted blockage on the receiving end, I can’t say.

There are some awesome female guitarists out there, Popovic, Raitt, Wilson, Ford, and more to come, and there should be. Promotion aside, I’m still waiting for Jeanie Hendrix and Erica Clapton. There’s a few spots available. After all, we have our Carole King, and Diana Krall as examples. I know that, even in this male dominated business, that should a female guitarist of such a caliber come along she would certainly be elevated to a similar fame. Something is missing.

I and my co-workers saw a program that pointed out that many women get frustrated when their male counterparts engage in a second conversation at the same time. They believe that the male couldn’t possibly handle both conversations equally simultaneously. Scientific research later showed that a male can hear two or more things at once, and then separate and define them all. Females do not have an equal process.

Well, to prove or disprove that effect, a bunch of us, male and female, took turns listening to a stereo playback, and then decifering those two separate conversations that ran simultaneously on the two track. The theory and research proved to be, for the most part, true. This leads me to believe that there is a difference amongst the genders on how music is processed with adavantages and disadvantages to each.

In my music room I surround myself with what some would call junk (even me) that can motivate the senses when I want to create. It might be a Hendrix magazine cover, or a California Raisin drummer. My motivators may do nothing for someone else, likely because of what they mean to me and me alone transmitting inner feelings that hopefully transfer to my fingers and waiting ears that send waves to my brain or others to process and start the senses in motion all over again.

As for the wave energy, Alex, I fully get that. Some have big waves, some have smaller waves, some are up and down, some come, some go, and, I believe some have no waves at all. It’s about the only flood I wish to have.
Cheers!

About women. Yes they are a different kind of people. That is, I wanted to say that they are not really human. Nevertheless I really love women. Now after talking about women, it's time for hockey. You know that for a long time in the USSR there were two main themes for men's conversations - women and ice hockey Image Cheers! Your health! Image

Haha! Thanks, FSB! I think it's more my way of trying to accept that there will always be people way better than me and being ok with it!

:)

But yeah, happy with these cheap mics I bought on a whim! I had bought my AT2035 based on the universally great reviews (I'm really new to all this!), but for my actual recording, I'm finding that the hypercardioid pattern is easier for me to work with when I'm recording vocals while playing acoustic guitar (anyone with suggestions, I'd appreciate input!). This is so much so, that I'm thinking of trying out a Samson C01 for the vocals with the C02 for guitar... I don't know, Christmas is coming up! I guess there are a few more expensive multi-pattern condenser mic's to consider as well... for now, the C02's and AT2035 give me enough options...

Also, PaulLF, regarding the Tascam DP-008EX. The issue I ran into with the unit was that with dynamic mic's, it got pretty noisy having to crank up the pre-amps all the way (and sometimes still having to gain up in post) using my Sennheiser e835 and SM57 clone. Going to condenser mic's fixed this pretty well. (The unit does supply phantom power."

Thanks, for your kind words, Alex. Hockey is pretty big in this town and that’s an understatement as the downtown is in the process of a multi faceted complex indoors and outdoors to include hotels, restaurants, outdoor entertainment areas, and more to add to the moderately new arena and the plentiful nightspots that are there already. It will cover several blocks and cater mainly to the NHL team and fans, but other venues as well. It’s a mega project.

As for women, the Canadian women’s national team will be here this month to play USA, and for the first time they have been given the go ahead to collect a wage like their male counterparts. I’ve worked on hundreds of pro games, and I’ve taken a liking to women’s hockey, I only hope it doesn’t go the route of the NHL once the paycheck dictates. Too many prima donnas working under some questionable management for my liking.

Even though a best friend of mine was on the Colorado Rockies draft and my cousin was goalie for the Las Vegas Nuggets, I truly like international hockey rules, and rink size better. I guess working on camera for the 1972 Canada/Russia Summit series spoiled me for life (and the fact that I remember the six original NHL teams when I knew the names and performance of all the players instead of some). Even better than that, I seem to remember when the Toronto Maple Leafs carried the Stanley Cup. Now they carry a Starbucks cup.
I’m an old fogie, huh? :P

You're so incredibly cook ! OMG ☺
Here in my city there is not a big hockey .But something happens sometimes. I played as a child for a local children's team .It was in Soviet times. Then my vision completely deteriorated. And I had to give up hockey. My oldest son (15 years old) plays for the children's team. And the younger also played. But one day he told me - Dad I want to play the piano . Well at home we play a lot on the piano ( my wife and I ). But I had an amazing experience when I coached the younger son's team for two years. The real coach went to a good team near Moscow and we were left without a coach then . I had to learn a lot of Canadian training videos. It was like a guitar teaching. :D
I watched all the series Canada vs Russia . It was the greatest hockey . And even now it looks cool. I think this year Toronto has a very good chance of a cup. Mike Babcock created a very tough and fast team. Now I will support them a bit  Started the season nhl. Now I do not sleep at night.
I wrote this music and played it very long time ago. My kids were so small, and now they are tough guys with almost my height.

Not really, but thIs white haired senior thanks ya. Elvis was cool, and I was cooler than now when I had a ducktail, my t-shirt sleeves rolled to hold my cigarettes, my Levi’s rolled over my motorcycle boots with the buckles (now the roll is over my pants), and any one of my several James Dean jackets or my Japanese silk black jacket (brought back from the land of the rising sun from my dad) with the embroidered tiger on the back. All that coolness changed into groovy with my Camel hair Nehru coat, turtle neck with a jade Buddha hanging on my neck, pointed shoes and Cuban heels to go with my half belt red Beatle jacket where I stored my rose coloured and/or blue gradient lenses. Then I went through my Rat pack stage, French cuffs below the 2 button suit sleeves, continental tie, and dress boots or patent leather shoes, and bling (a progression from the Sammy Davis Nehru look). Jazz was on my playlist beside my rock and opera. That was bordering on cool unless you were into Flatt and Scruggs. Okay, I’ll accept being hip. 8)
I think you’re pretty cool my friend, and I know we both, sharing the Arctic ocean (albeit it’s further from me), get pretty cold where we live in the north. That’s the best time to warm up with a few licks on the guitar or drums.
But, I digress, there’s a lot of very cool members here, and your contributions are enjoyed, Alex. I really liked your music on the hockey team video. Thanks, for sharing that. It’s obvious you are a good dad. You must have been a good coach too because there’s a lot of happy faces in that video. Who knows, maybe one of those kids will grow to be a great Russian player, and lucky your boys have a musical family.

Like most Canadian kids, hockey was in my background and my coaching was limited to teaching my 6 year younger kid brother how to bobskate. My skills were limited to hauling goalie gear at 6:30 am so I could take a puck or four. Then I left the game to him and moved to nights where I got hit in the ring. No shirt pulling or pads (other than headgear) allowed. He went on to play both coasts and tournaments in Portland, Oregon, and elsewhere. His coach for a small period was Andy Hebenton (Rangers and Bruins) who talked my ambidextrous brother into switching from left wing (which he did well) to being on defence. That was because Andy thought that would better open up professional doors. Unfortunately, a doctor pulled the plug on that as my brother got into problems with his wrist, and was told he had little or no choice but to leave the game behind.

Andy:

Toronto is definitely back in the game, finally. Good for Toronto and good for the league. Enjoy the season, Alex, and keep the tunes coming.

Cheers!

No, I do not watch WHL games. Apparently this is the next stage of immersion in the wonderful and useless world of hockey

My flub. That should have read WHA which no longer exists (1972-79). With Bobby Hull, Gordie Howe, some guys named Gretsky, Nilsson, Hedberg, Messier, Nedomansky, Henderson, Mahovolich, and what not.

It was quite the league only to be chewed up by the NHL basically leaving only Wayne’s Edmonton Oiler team together who never won the Avco cup, and breaking up the other teams including Houston winning twice and the Jets winning the most with three championships. Lots of sour grapes as the NHL destroyed some great hockey and an era that initially brought Europeans to these shores to play our game.

I always felt the WHA was the game of the people, and even though Bobby Hull got a record 2.75 million dollars for his effort, the NHL was, is, and will always be business before fans and fair competition. I’ll admit it’s still the best available in it’s own arena, however.

Not many people here will remember when coaches would shuffle across the ice to shake hands at the end of the game, after goalies and fishing buddies skated to center ice to talk as a bench clearout or other game stoppage occurred. Now it is fancy hotels, rule changes or referree changes because officials rightfully called it right instead of the popular wrong, perks and demands instead of sharing the athletes’ village at the Olympics, and so many lineup changes that no one’s overworked or underpayed. We not only have the best ever, but also enforcers who can’t play and will join the ultimate fighter ring down the road. :P
Incidentally, the Oilers won no cup until ‘84 and the last in ‘90. The new NHL Jets (2011) have yet to win the Stanley Cup. I guess the Oilers couldn’t win playing the old WHA guys, and the Jets have trouble with the NHL young ones. Canada still isn’t represented coast to coast over decades of play. If the NHL doesn’t smarten up we may see that orange ball with its net from coast to coast first and I find that strange since Crosby (and I hear the next following his footsteps) is from a province with no NHL representation. Back to the business I think.
:?:
Speaking of play. That you do very well on that beautiful Gibby. I certainly enjoyed your Railroad Rain song and visual, Alex. What a pleasant way to start the day, and I wish you and yours a great day. :D

I'm sorry I late with the answer.I was a little sick. and spent a couple of days in bed. everyone was sorry for me. So it goes . :D
Of course I know about WHA . But only from books of Gretzky and Howe .Everything changes . Now, alas, you can not buy a new Mercedes Benz w124 . But at the same time there is a lot of good . Image
I'm watching Washington vs Toronto. Good game ☺

I hope you are feeling a lot better, Alex.

I do agree with you, Alex, that there will always be change, and that there is a lot of good in today’s game. The better players are great as techniques have been refined and shared on a global scale.

Bettman is questionable amongst fans though, so are fog machines and light shows IMHO. As for fighting, the Ontario Hockey Association which is a large influential group believes they and others are recently on the right track to change that as kids mature and fans get to see the alternative.

In 1983 I was invited to see a Bantam championship called the Purolater Cup where my cousin coached a winning team from a BC mill town against an Edmonton team. Both, and only they, had no fighting restrictions. With an abundance of line changes, the numbers 1 and 2 BC and Alberta kids frustrated, outplayed, and beat the 3rd hard hitting fighting team with a reputation from Quebec. Now that was hockey.

My cousin said after some struggles it took 3 years to get the tough milltown parents and fans to accept the change which, for them, paid off. No fog machines and dancing lights though. Yep! Change can be a good thing.
Some things never change though. The NHL got some players out of that, and obviously it was business as usual.
So ya never know. :D
Best,
FSB
