Hmmmm..............not sure.

The shops seem to deal directly with Fender - I have never heard of anyone else. It might be a different legal entity, though it appears to be a Fender entity.

There is a Fender office in my country if that helps.

Make your contests available to the residents of Rhode Island. To hell with the stupid state law that we have. Our politicians are corrupt , so you can buy them off anyway. LOL. Or better yet , why not open a chain of stores that sell nothing but Fender Merchandise and the other brands that they own ? Guitar Center is going down the tubes anyway and this would be a welcomed break from those idiots !

The Fender Strat version of a Les Paul Studio (same quality but with less "eye candy" to keep costs down). Does it already exist?

Yes, the Fender version of a Les Paul Studio does exist - three versions of them: The American Special series, the USA Professional Standard series, and the Satin-finish series. All US instruments priced under $1000.

I would really like to see them track & make available to the public all there production models, specifically FSR products.
Yeah, I known that would require a lot of work resources but I'm sure they have most of the data available.
It could be as simple as model#, name, year and quantity produced or as complete as pictures, spec. sheets, distributor and origin.
Its part of the historical record of the company, that is/has been overlooked as it is. I'm sure the numbers are significant it terms of production/sales to justify a more reliable record of the history of FSR products.

You do not need more owners manual just more work on guitar.
If you do some guitars tune -up, you know that do not need owners manual for each guitar , there are all same .
But, they are not "all the same".

It is like changing a wheel on a car , they are not the same size and may need different size wrench , the jack is not same too . You don't need a owner manual for this if you do the job few times.
Everybody still has to do it the first time. Even then, having set up a couple of hard-tail guitars doesn't prepare you for dealing with a Stratocaster tremolo bridge.
For that matter, how is a beginner even supposed to know that a setup is something they can do themselves? Or why they might want to have it done at all?

Need more information ? Everything is on line ,or there are ,many good books you can buy.
No, it is not.
For example, I might want info on my Squier VM Jaguar Short Scale Bass, a current model.
Squier Support link take you to Fender's site. Fair enough.
See http://www2.fender.com/support/articles ... s-manuals/ - To find that you had to have made the guess on http://www2.fender.com/support/articles ... ct-manuals ("Fender® Guitar Owner's Manuals") that basses are lumped in with guitars, but nope, no VM Jaguar SS or similar current model bass listed.
The closest I was able to find was http://www2.fender.com/support/articles ... tup-guide/ which covers all Fender basses.
There is only one brief reference to short scale basses: "Fender offers a variety of bass strings—smooth, vintage-sounding pure-nickel Original Bass 7150s; Super Bass 7250s; bright, snappy Stainless Steel 7350s and others. They are available in long, medium and short scales; taper-wound; and top-loading or string-through-body types".

Fender do not need to add cost to the guitar with hundred new owners manual
And waste paper .
What I said about the PDFs.
Unless you live in Cuba, where, I understand, it is difficult for regular citizens to get access to the internet. Or some rural place in the boonies, where you might be lucky to have dial-up.
The additional paper required is not a lot more compared to the cardboard and plastic used in the packaging.

One simple suggestion -- quit screwing over your small independent dealers.

These are the shops that built the company (NOT GC). They know their local market and the customer base. Why do you force them to purchase X*$10,000 worth of equipment when they know it won't all move quickly? Why force them to purchase certain ratios/quotas of instruments and equipment (example: You must have X USA instruments, Y MIM instruments, Z Squires, etc.) ? If you lower a price on inventory they already have gotten, don't do something cheesy and give them a "credit" on future purchases (Specifically - remember when the Mustang Floor dropped from $300 to $200?).

Just my simple suggestion. Especially since GC will be gone before much longer, you REALLY need to get the small independents back on your side - you can only do so much with web sales. Many people still want to go in and put hands on wood and hear how stuff sounds.
