Funny book with a lot of good info. Finger exercises, scales, and a lot of suggestions about how to improvise. Watch your favorite shows and make up appropriate riffs for each character and play them whenever that person walks in the room or takes a drink. Car chases. The dash of a basketball player down the court or the change in the music suggesting a change in possession of the ball. Every time Sheldon Cooper knocks on someone's door and says their name over and over. When the Law and Order guys solve the crime. Only limited by the imagination. Always making up new stuff or learning to recall the old stuff fast before the moment is lost!

After awhile I could learn new scales then turn on the TV and go at it till I could play them frontwards and backwards while still focused on the TV. Made it that much easier when the TV is off and I'm focusing on the guitar.

He talked a lot about couch posture and couchmate etiquette but missed the most important rule - don't eat while playing!

Sadly, I do play a lot in front of the TV so I went ahead and ordered it. What the heck? Sounds like an interesting book.

Its helped me a lot. Not a replacement for serious practice but if I can get a few hours extra practice while vegging out in front of the TV it is a good thing. I've found myself doing the finger exercises a lot sitting in the car at a red light or while at work. Helped me get used to moving my pinky without the ring finger wanting to go along and has helped build up stamina. Arthritis started kicking in a few years ago and it seems like I can play longer before my fingers get sore.

And is fun making up little riffs based on the personalities of your favorite TV characters.

Sounds like an interesting book... but, I would need to find a different application for it... I haven't watched... or owned a TV in over 16 years. Don't miss it at all...

Never heard of it. I do like to try mimic the melody of a commercial, etc. Better than not playing.

I salute you sir!! I am an addict, I can't sleep unless the TV is on. I have them all over the house. Now, I could go without cable if I had to, I own a couple hundred DVD's. Love movies.

Actually I rarely play while watching TV--most of my TV watching is social--so it's with others that would object to my noodling--even on an unplugged electric solidbody.
If I'm on my own, I'll have a guitar and if I'm playing it in front of something--it's the computer.

But the book does look interesting.
