Yes! I remember '78 very well, right after the worst blizzard ever heard of in this area, in the early spring listening to the first VH album (cassette actually) and being blown away! The Eruption Solo! WTF was that!?!? :D There had been nothing quite as new as the sounds that EVH got from a guitar, since Jimi Hendrix, and EVH was as amazing, if not more-so. Brilliant music right up to and including 1984. If I had to pick a favorite song, it would probably be "Unchained" from the "Fair Warning" album. 8)

He touts Wolf to be an even greater player than himself. I was hoping
the camera would pan to his brother and son when he kept mentioning
them. A nice set of noodles he plays during the interview too. I never knew
about the hell their family went through coming to CA and his dad's musical career. The questions after the interview were answered sincerely too.

I saw that interview and to say that he has been through hell and back, is a understatement. He looks good with the grey hair. Must be the pressures of being a CEO of one of the top guitar companies now, lol.

I think every rock guitarist in 1978 remembers the first time they heard "Eruption". I certainly do, and I was only 12. To put EVH in context, at that time the biggest guitar gunslingers were probably Ted Nugent, Pat Travers, and the guys in Thin Lizzy. "Eruption" changed everything overnight.

I was born a little later, so I started with '1984' at 9 years old. I still love this album, even as overplayed as some of the tracks were.
