I have a Gretsch G5420 and a G5622. Love them both. Gretsch are great guitars! :D

Love the sounds and appearance of Gretsch guitars. Nice collection you have there, but they're all backwards.
I'm gassing for the newly released Brian Setzer model ( http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/G6120SHHB ), but @ $3000, it probably won't happen. :(

Chet that is one damn fine collection of Gretsch guitars you got there!

I have only ever played one and it played fantastic and if you want to play some rockabilly or finger pick some Chet (Atkins) style guitar, you gotta have one of those!

Thanks for sharing your collection with us!

No.

Gretsch never did a thing for me.

But they sure are pretty.

Gretsch is on my list of wanna haves.

. . . but, so is $$$ :|

I have a great wife that bought me a 12 string which I sold, and a Strat for my 65th ... so I must know how to pout for sympathy. I know. I'll show her your great collection, Chet.

I'm more of a straight Fender/Gibson guy (I mean old Gibson, not the 2014/201 stuff), but I do love the looks of Gretsch guitars.

One of these days I'll give 'em a try

I LOVE being in a band with a Gretsch player. I've never cared for their basses, but next to a Telecaster the Tennessee Rose is my favorite guitar model. Great looking stable.

Thanks Everyone!! I still have my Strats, LP's, PRSi, Ric, and others, I guess I am going through a Gretsch phase at the moment. They are absolutely awesome guitars to play!!

If you have never played a Gretsch, go try one out!! If you have tried them and didn't care for them, go try one out!! It took me a couple of times over the years to like a Gretsch.

Of course as with other guitars made they are not for everyone.

Nice collection you have there Chet. I'm now open to using anything that sounds good. My electrics are a Epiphone Gold Top 56 re-issue LP w/ P-90's and a 2002 Squier Affinity Strat in Artic White , which was made in Indonesia at the Cort plant. I also have 2 Fender Acoustics now, which I've added to the collection as well.

Chet:

One doesn't have to look hard to see that Gretsch is in a league of its own. But, not having yet played one, although I have seen them up close, I am aware that sometimes the best knowledge can come from those who have spent time in the real world with the subject matter.

I don't even know if this applies, or if anyone is playing a Gretsch electric without using an amp (for effect or otherwise).

In your opinion, aside from using the benefits of amplification, which Gretsch axes sound good (and/or best) when unplugged, and is the sound appealing, or is it necessary to have it plugged in for acceptability? Is there one model that is a good fit when plugged and unplugged?

Also, do pickguards over the F-holes interfere with the acoustics in this case?

What do you not like, or what would you change or, perhaps, could change with a Gretsch if you wanted to?

With the Gretsch, have you run across some amps or types of amps that are less than compatible/desirable, and where (if at all) would an acoustic amp fall into this camp?
(Your F/A amps look to be great, by the way).

Any other related observations, aside from the obvious, of note would be appreciated.

TIA
