Hey guys and gals.

I know I know, long time no see blah blah blah, but enough about that.
Let's talk about whisky. The nectar of the gods that goes so well with music (rock, blues, country etc.).
Some of you that are on my FB friendlist might have noticed that I belong to a Whisky taste club with my uncles and cousins (and now the first member of a new generation my cousin son). I have to admit that we are bit of a snobs when it comes to whisky, only Single Malt allowed in our annual whisky taste night though it seems to be that there is always one cousin that accidentaly brings White horse blended whisky.

So what is your guys favourite whiskys. Mine are either 10 year old Talisker or 15 year old Glenlivet.

Jon !!! Good to see your post Brother ! Whiskey makes you frisky ! My favorite is Makers Mark. Smooth and pleasant tasting and helps to bring that good buzz on, lol :D . Although in my younger days I would drink just about anything wet that contained alcohol

I like many flavours of whisky from Speyside malts to western isles (like Skye) too. In the house I nearly always have some Jack Daniels Tennesee honey and for more traditional Scottish whisky, some Glen Moray single malt which is of course from Elgin in Speyside

In Stamford Bridge near York is a shop that sells mostly just whisky, I have been known to buy a bottle in faith almost on a whim, ....... I havn'y been disappointed yet.

Well, as you asked Nonig, I just unsealed a miniature Balvenie Portwood 21years, not being an avid whiskey drinker, I don't really have a favourite but this is quite enjoyable. Always seems to have a bottle of Glenmorangie kicking about the house though.......Cheers

Oops sorry Nonnig, hope the single n spelling error isn't an Icelandic insult

My goto Scotch is The Balvenie Double Wood or the 15YO Single Cask. I dabble occasionally in Aberlour, or Macallan.

Sorry but , I don't drink anymore. I'm a recovered alcoholic with 14 years of sobriety under his belt and when I was drinking , it was mostly beer and Screwdrivers. Never was much for Whiskey.

So, with fair play in mind I delved into the far reaches of the cupboard and dug out another miniature, a Balblair 03 and wouldn't you know it a Glenmorangie, so, after sips of each the Glenmorangie comes third, the Balvenie second, and my new favourite........rumdroll............. Balblair03

My new favorite is Auchentoshan Three Wood. Also, anything with "glen" in the label is fine.
A Jim Beam Signature surprized me (and a few friends), while the Ardbeg Uigeadail just was too much for my taste buds. (Mind you, until Ardbegs I always took my whiskeys neat - their smoke&peet taught me the effect of a spoonful of water to open up the flavor.)
And of course, 7&7, for the memories of my time in the US - well, any rye or bourbon will do the job. (Hi, San Antonio, love yall.)

Actually, come to think of it, anything goes as long as the distillery can spell "whiksy" right.

Lagavulin 16 is my all time favourite...very smokey.

Currently working on a Talisker 10 year old that the wife was kind enough to give me as a Christmas gift.

1976 Laphroaig is the best I've ever tasted.
The regular 10 year old and even younger quarter cask are too harsh, and lately, the froyg has become less salty, which is disappointing.

Right now my favorites are Caol Ila and Abhainn Dearg, and if going to a restaurant where they will have neither, Talisker or Oban.

For whiskey with an e, Maker's Mark is a pretty good dessert. It's far too sweet to drink on its own, but after a meal it's excellent. It also works great in a barbecue sauce.

And for Irish Coffee, the youngest and rawest Jameson you can find is key. It shouldn't be mellow, or the coffee will kill it.

Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve for me!

You can't beat a good Bourbon whiskey. At 120 proof it is definitely a "Mans" drink.

Sip it slowly!

I used to drink Scotch, Irish, Bourbon, etc.
I gave that all up.

Now I drink one thing.
Gibson's 18 Rare.
IMO, the finest whiskey I have ever tried and I've tried lots.
