Thanks to all that helped with regrads to receiving my guitar and making sure the finish didn't crack from condensation.

Although it is in need of a truss rod adjustment...and I don't feel comfortable adjusting truss rods...so it'll be visiting the luthier.

Since I was threatened for pics...I am not much of a photograper but here she is with all the case candy.

Brief rview so far...very happy as I wanted the CS 69 pickups for a nice clean tone primarily, but need to get used to the low output. They are definitely different that other single coils I am more accustomed to such as the hotter Texas Specials or MIM standards. Overall the feel is good as is the finish. Very happy NGD!

It's a nice one for sure!

Glad you had the patience to allow the guitar to acclimate to its new environs before "popping the cork", looks like a gorgeous finish.

Arjay

Very nice guitar. I always did like the Strat in sunburst.

Hope it brings you years of joy!

Jerry

Congrats! I recently picked up a Classic Series 50's Strat with that same tobacco sunburst.

Condensation isn't the main issue for the finish. The problem is that different parts of the guitar heat up and expand at different rates. If exposing an ice cold guitar to a warm room, the lacquer will warm up long before the body, and expand while the body hasn't had a chance to yet. The shell becomes too big for the wood it's attached to, and the tension causes cracks.

Condensation is more of a concern for the pickups, pots and machines.

But that's not the worst that could happen. When temperature changes, the metal truss rod retracts and expands at a different rate from the wood in the neck. As long as that happens gradually, there's no problem. The wood moves slowly and settles into its new position. But if you have a frozen guitar, and warm it up quickly, the wood will expand and move faster. Because the metal truss rod is still ice cold, the wood will be stuck like a tongue to a fencepost, and can't slide against it. The forces can easily become so great that the wood warps and splinters. My luthier showed me a neck that had twisted so hard that several frets were visibly bent. There's no recovering from that.
