Hey there guys!

So I'm going straight to the point. I can't stop noticing that my high E string is not responding as well as the rest of 'em. I mean the difference in volume between her and the rest is pretty damn noticible...
While I'm at it I'm also having some tuning problems with my G string.

Captains of the forum I plead for your expertise!

You didn't say what the guitar is. Some can have the pickup height non-level so that the high e is closer than the low E which may provide a better balance. Also, some guitar pickups have adjustable individual pole pieces which can produce the same effect.

And sometimes, it's the amp/speaker/guitar combination that is weak at some frequencies (although I've usually experienced this at the low end.) How does another guitar work with the amp?

Yes... we really do need more info... otherwise there's no way to narrow things down...
1. type of guitar
2. type of pups
3. has this always been a prob or something that's just developed
4. has the guitar been setup recently
these types of things... the more you can tell us... the more we can give you some help 8)

Ok let's settle it straight then.

I've got a 2010 Standard Am. Strat. The pups are the standard ones as well and I seem to recall having noticed this when I changed my strings and fiddled with my pup height. Could it be that the issue? Also I've yet to get her a new setup

Could be the culprit.

Perhaps this may help...
"Depress all the strings at the last fret. Using a 6" (150 mm) ruler, measure the distance from the bottom of the first and sixth strings to the top of the pole piece. A good rule of thumb is that the distance should be greatest at the sixth-string neck pickup position, and closest at the first-string bridge pickup position. Follow the measurement guidelines in the chart below as starting points. The distance will vary according to the amount of magnetic pull from the pickup.

................................Bass Side ------- Treble Side
Texas Specials 8/64" (3.2 mm) - 6/64" (2.4 mm)
Vintage style 6/64" (2.4 mm) - 5/64" (2 mm)
Noiseless™ Series 8/64" (3.2 mm) - 6/64" (2.4 mm)
Standard Single-Coil 5/64" (2 mm) - 4/64" (1.6 mm)
Humbuckers 4/64" (1.6 mm) - 4/64" (1.6 mm)
Lace Sensors As close as desired (allowing for string vibration)"

Let us know how things turn out...
