... that's what our drummer uses. Given the progress that's been made on the better electronic kits like the Roland V-Drums, it's getting harder and harder to justify acoustic kits given how hard (and expensive) they are to get blended in with the rest of the instruments with something close to a studio sound when you can pretty much do it out of the box with an e-kit.

Your drummer must be good, because e-drums take knowledge, technique, and talent to be effective. Lucky guy  (Some people pound the drums . . . giving us a bad image . . . others play them).

I'm happy with my Mustang IV V1 for my style of music, although I can see the advantages of the V2. As for the drums, I would love to have a set of Rolands. I don't know enough about them - if they could emulate Gretsch, Pearl, Yamaha, DW, Premier, Rogers, Ludwig, Sonor, or others at will without a continuous addition of gear? To emulate specific vintage traps would certainly be cool. 8)

In regards to modeling (the original discussion), imagine if you could reproduce the sound from guitars, keyboards, and drums exactly as they sounded on the original performance/recordings (in some cases this is possible or at least close). Sure, you could use original or copies of the original equipment . . . but, that would be expensive, maybe less reliable, and difficult to attain throughout. Then you might need to work out at the gym, or hire a strong arm roadie. The other disadvantage could be that it would be a one trick pony per se.

I think the future is here to stay.
