I like the California Cables, they are strong and enable good movement on stages (well, small stages).

I've had one that's lasted for a while, and as someone else pointed out, they're good looking too.

I've since moved on to dB Technologies Wireless Guitar units, though.
But yes, California Cables are indeed a good choice! It'll serve you well.

i'm buying them this week

Yeah, these are great cables, and I got them so cheap ($12) at the music store I go to. Me and my bro have two 18-footers between us - on is red and the other is blue. I've had mine for over a year and it hasn't failed me yet!

I don't know about the California cables, since I haven't used them. But being as they're made by Fender, they're probably good.

I have bought some of those (forgot the brands) "guarantied for life" cables in the past.

They developed problems just like most do. And trying to get a warranty honored, when the store no longer carries them is too much trouble - as the cable manufacturer well knows. I haven't bought anymore of them.

The cables I have that have lasted the longest, and still work today, are the ones that are black, have "Fender" written in white on the plug covers and, I think, used to come with some Fender guitars. Maybe still do.

They are the best, most reliable, cables I have ever used in 40+ years of playing.

Anyone else remember those coiled cables from years ago? They had to be among the worst I've used. Sometimes a brand new one wouldn't even last a nights set.

I've never been one to think that there are better cables than others. I mainly though there were "good" cables and "bad" cables.

I had been playing through a Dynex (which is one of Best Buy's brands) cable, because it was $10 for 20 feet and I needed one. I thought it was working fine. Then the other day the sound kept breaking up.

Yesterday I was in a local store, and saw display on the counter for Whirlwind cables. They were on sale ($12.50 for 20 feet). I bought one. In all honesty, the reason I bought it wasn't because of the old cable, but because it was a black and red tweed, and matched my microphone cable. Yeah.

I got home and plugged it in, and it was perfect. It was noiseless - I've never had a noiseless cable before, even from brand new cables. I've never heard the guitar or amp sound that good before.

I also learned that Whirlwind is a local company, so that made me a bit happy.

I used to use just cheap noname cables I changed after a buddy brought over a couple elixir cables over. They are completely silent but very expensive i use one 15 foot to connect the guitar to the amp . I also use dimarzio tweed cables they are real nice and can be had for a decent price.
