I don't remember seeing that one. Maybe you had it after before I rejoined here and you left the Conservatory.

It could've been about that time.

Probably so, since I know I would have remembered that one. That's something I don't see too often.

The neck didn't feel as good as an Am. Std. Fretless, and I just don't care for the Active bass.

I played on a Music Man once, many moons ago in Thoroughbred Music in Clearwater (now Sam Ash) and I don't remember a lot about it, other than the neck feeling soft, almost spongy, but I think that was because I had previously played on a Modulus Graphite bass, which had the graphite neck. That was an interesting bass. Very punchy. The neck had an interesting texture to it, because it wasn't wood. Kind of like a hard plastic feel.

I guess the neck on the MM I had was ok, I'm just liking the feel of the Am. Std.

They do have a good feel to them.

When you play them for a while, it's easy to get used to them. I like the rolled edges on my Am. Std. Jazzes. To me they feel really comfortable.

I wonder what the difference is between the neck on your American Jazz and my Squier Jazz? I'm sure yours is a lot nicer, considering. I had to do some work with the fret ends, but overall it's not too shabby. If I ever get over to a Fender dealer, I'll have to play on an American Jazz, just to really see. I could with an MIM, also.

I'm not sure about the difference between the Squier, and the Am. Std. Jazz, but the MIM pretty good. They have been turning out some nice work on the MIM's.

Yeah, I've heard about that.

Surprising to me, how many of the nice signature basses are MIM.

Originally, my favorite ones were Japanese made, but I guess that's gone now. I've seen quit a few for sale on eBay or Reverb, but they are being shipped from Japan and the average shipping is around $145. That's not a cheap place to ship anything to or from. I have a friend who lives there and knows that all to well. Oddly enough, you can buy things there dirt cheap that you can't here (like Vox and Roland amps) but American brands, like Fender and even Peavey are more expensive.

MIM's seem to be the newer source.

I guess they would have to be MIM, since it seems the MIJ is out of there.

Yeah, except for the used market, probably. There are some Japanese companies like Bacchus, which has made Fender clones for years, still around. Of course, they don't have the Fender logo on them, although it wouldn't shock me if they were made in the same factory.
