If they aren't going to make them anymore, it might be a good idea to hold on to it, too. Then again, it depends on how many were made and how popular they are that would determine any future value.

I'm ok with weather they make them any longer, or not. Future value, I'm not concerned with that. If they don't do Am. Std. Fretless, I have this one, and the price was a bit easier with the instant rebate. The Olympic White / Maple Jazz, was out of the case the other day, and plays great. So there's a Fretless, and Fretted Jazz. I'm doing fine without an Am. Std. Precision. 8)

I like the Fretless for the feel when playing it. I've never noticed a sound difference from a
Fretted to Fretless, or you can't use a Fretless for that style of music.

That's true. Fretless will stand out a little when you do certain slides, but it doesn't mean you couldn't use it like a fretted bass. At one point, all I had was a fretless and no other instrument. That wasn't deliberate, though. It was the fact I was broke and couldn't afford new gear.

I had the same situation, where I just had one bass. A Fretless. No problems here with that again if it rose.

I'm glad to say that I'm doing pretty good with gear these days, sans some issues with a few basses that need to be fixed. I got two gig-worthy bass amps, a guitar amp, and a couple of basses and guitars, plus access to a pro studio. I remember when I didn't even have an amp to play through and had to borrow stuff. Sadly, when I had that fretless, I was forced to pawn it, but fortunately I was able to get another bass at the time.

I always get back to Fretless basses. Jazzes in general are getting to be my main go to bass.

I'd love this Jazz Bass, a 1967 with the block inlays and matching headstock, but it's $10,995. Maybe, winning the lottery? :P

Yeah, especially if you got a spare 11 grand lying around. :P Still, that's the type of Jazz I'd love to have, even if was a Squier version.

The one thing I wouldn't possible care for on it, if it were a 7.5" radius fretboard. And the price tag too.

You don't like the original fretboard radius? Yeah, it's hard for me to fathom dropping that much cash on a bass, but I've never been a high end collector. Never had that kind of money.

No, I was never to crazy about a more rounded fretboard. I feel better with a flatter board. I know what you mean about dropping that much cash on it.

That looks pretty nice. I like the way the black pickguard also looks on a red or blue bass, too. I've seen a few Fenders and Squiers like that around the web.
