No Jerry Garcia= no Greatful Dead. It would be like Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr touring as the Beatles without John Lennon And George Harrison.

I don't know if it is quite like that, but your point is taken.

That's just like Skynrd today , I don't know why they keep on using that name when the only original member left is Gary Rossington.

I guess you know you're getting "Older"... when all the bands (and members of bands) all start going away (or passing away).
Yeah... Skynrd isn't Skynrd anymore... and the Dead wern't really the "Dead" anymore when Jerry passed.

Granted Warren Haynes did a fantastic job filling those shoes for a while... but.. Not the same as Jerry.

I consider myself fortunate to have seen the Grateful Dead a couple of times... back when Jerry was still with us... But, I'll admit... It's still worth it to see them this time around if you can... The whole band is full of talent.. Phil Lesh... Weir... Kreutzmann... ALL helped to make that band something special.

Same with Boston. The only original member left is Tom Scholz. I saw them a few years ago (before Brad Delp died), and they weren't the same. Granted, they had the "voice" (Delp) as heard on so many famous hits, and the distinct lead guitar/organ (Scholz), but you sat there thinking, "Who the F are these other guys? I never heard of them before!"

Starting in 1972 I saw the Grateful Dead 25 times with Jerry Garcia, for which I am grateful. Without Garcia not so much.

I'm late to getting into the Dead, so I never got the chance to see the band when Jerry was alive, so this may be the closest thing.

I missed mail order I will try when they go on line. I have seen the Dead in all of their configuration from Pig Pen to Vince Welnick, and after Jerry, form 1968 to recent. Theses show will have Trey Anastasio, and Bruce Hornsby who I have seen with the dead after Bret died, so I see it as another transformation of some of the best times of my life. I have seen them over 200 times I guess I should see their last shows

Wow 200 times! You sound like my friend Tom. I bet he's seen them about that many times also. The Dead make fine records. but the only way to really appreciate them is live.
