ZZDoc...I am not quite that old, but I did see Clapton in Derek & the Dominos play a beautiful 56 Sunburst Strat that inspired me to play one and was my "Iconic Moment"!

So can't Honk, but I'm with ya on what a great guitar it is and it is a great photo!

Buddy Holly and the Crickets appeared twice on Ed Sullivan. December 1, 1957 and January 26, 1958.

FDR had already been dead for a dozen years.

I wasn't born until 1959 but my first recollection of ever seeing a Stratocaster , was seeing Deep Purple on " In Concert " which used to air back in the early 1970's on Friday nights on ABC . Anybody here remember that show ? That along with " Don Kirshner's Rock Concert " and NBC's " The Midnight Special " were recommended viewing way back then .
