Has anyone tried the new Supro Dual Tone? If so, what is your opinion? I have a Strat and I have been split between a ’65 princeton reverb reissue, vox ac15 c1x and the dual tone. I know that is quite a range of tones.;) The only negative I have heard about the fender is a rattle on the low end due to the box construction. Any input is appreciated.

Here is a demo with Steve Stevens on guitar. I saw Steve with Billy Idol's band march 1987, very cool guitarist. Fender gear is top of the line, if you can afford to, get Fender, my tuppence Bro :D

Each of those amps listed are apples and oranges. If you do decide it's Fender tone you prefer, you'd be doing yourself a big favor to source an old SFPR.

SFPR =

The one pictured is a '73 I picked up about a year ago for <$850 (+ $100 to replace the stock Oxford w/ a more desirable period correct Jensen C10N) . It is pretty much a pristine, one-owner example and it wasn't too extensive a search to find it. There are many of them out there.

Amazing Tone, compact and lightweight vs. the also much sought after Deluxe Reverb.

Another advantage to investing in a vintage amp is that if taken care of, you're almost certain to get all your money back when you sell, basically giving you the amp for free !!

cheers!

LMN...That is one CLEAN SFPR! Always love seeing that one! And an incredible price considering it's condition.

Thx so much for the info. I have to agree with the vintage idea and that will be the route I go. Thx again.

Tim, I saw one in person at a guitar show a few months ago and it sounds incredible. They have a sound all their own. The distortion is pretty sweet. This is why I won't record anything I build and put it on YouTube. It makes no difference how well it's recorded, all the quality gets stripped from it on the internet with file compression. Then it gets played though a computers sound card and then whatever speakers are hooked up to it at the time. I'm a big Supro fan. I still have a 63 Supro Martinique guitar that my parents bought me in 1966, It's made out of resoglass and looks and sounds really cool. I always wanted a Supro amp, so maybe I'll build a Model 24.
