I'm just curious here and would like to know , what attracted you to using Fender Guitars and amps ? For example , was it a certain group or song or just the look of their instruments ? For me, it was seeing Deep Purple on " In Concert " which was a show that used to air on Friday nights on ABC way back in the early 1970's . I vaguely remember seeing Ritchie Blackmore rocking his now famous signature White Strat and for a impressionable then 13 year old, that was all it took. Of course my folks couldn't afford to get me a Strat so I had to settle for a Bronco but dammit it was a Fender and that was good enough for me !

A friend's brother's band was using a lot of Fender gear back in the day.

It looked cool and sounded great!

I didnt start using fenders until later in life. I was always a Les Paul guy. Then about 10 yrs ago I got tired of how heavy my guitars were so I started using a strat. Now I mainly use my 61 RI SG and a 335. As for amps I gig with a Marshall but at home I use my RI 59 Bassman.

I got started on Fender when I got my first Musicmaster Bass. This was pre-net days so I didn't know there was such a thing as a short scale bass. Being "not tall" I instantly thought it was the best idea ever, still have that bass and a couple others.

Overall comfort got me at first, and I think that applies to all my Fenders.

Mark Knopfler - when I first heard Sultans of Swing on the radio. I thought 'what guitar is this guy playing to get that sound?'
I found out it was a strat and bought one. I'm using a Nashville Tele Deluxe now and I'm still working on 'that sound,' :)

Almost everyone played a Fender Precision electric bass guitar, with good reason. They sounded great; were well made with excellent playability, and were relatively affordable to the working man.

Yep. Every bassist before I even knew what one was that I enjoyed played a Precision. Every time I heard music my ear picked out the bass lines. As long as I can remember. Ever since I was a little kid. There was one tone that stood out more than all others. When looking at the songs and players that inspired me. That reached me. They all had one thing in common. A Precision Bass. That's why I only play Precisions. It's how bass is supposed to sound to me. It's my voice.

After a lot of years of switching back, and forth from Gibson, to Fender basses, the Gibsons just didn't make it. My Super Bassman head is the an new style Tube Monster sounds old style.

David Gilmour and Dave Murray got me interested in the strat so I picked up a squire to start learning back in the early 90s. My buddy had a Les Paul and that just felt too heavy and boxy to me and wasn't comfortable. So I just stuck with the strats. I've only owned Squier strats as my budget would allow. One day I'll finally get that American Strat i've been dreaming of and i can finally post a NGD post. Still a couple of years away though til student loans and mortgage are paid.

I remember seeing Dick Dale, the Beach Boys, Ventures and Jimi Hendrix playing Fender and knew, that was what cool was. My first electric guitar was a Fender Duo-Sonic, which I found second hand in a Pawn Shop. I played it for a couple years before I could afford to buy my dream, a Stratocaster, in 1963. I have played Fender ever since, though I admit having a couple of non-Fender electric-acoustics. Which I often took with me when I travelled for work.
