We've all heard that old saying. Came across this wireless unit and it sure seems to fit that saying. $67?

Has some positive reviews but can you really trust online reviews anymore?

Just wondering if anyone has even heard of Joyo before? I haven't.

JOYO is a famous enough company, for low cost pedals mostly.

Beware that it's a digital transmitter/receiver. I.e. it converts your signal to digital before transmitting it, then converts it back to analog again. That's two lossy conversions which also incur a small unavoidable latency, and will clip high output signals.
It also uses built-in lithium batteries, which will slowly degrade over the next few years until they no longer hold much charge. Since they're proprietary batteries, you can't just go buy a new one. JOYO may be able to replace them for you, but likely at a higher cost than the unit.
And lastly, it seems to have no secure key protection, only a keyless initial sync. I.e. I wouldn't use this on a stage where there's any risk of technically inclined hecklers who bring their own JOYO JW-01 or programmable bluetooth devices.

But it still seems a good buy - you could probably afford to replace this one yearly for less than a system that lasts 5+ years would cost you.

How many channels? If it doesn't provide multiple its not really worth it honestly. In today's wireless world, you have to be able to escape "dirty frequencies".

Good question.
It's digital (Bluetooth-based), and as far as I can tell, on a single channel. Each of these only takes a small portion of the total bandwidth, so you can run several of them at the same time. But, if anything else is sending a stronger signal (or noise) on that channel, you're S.O.L.

With BT based audio, you generally have a tradeoff between plenty of retransmits and high latency, or few if any retransmits and low latency, but with dropped packages sounding like noise. My guess would be that it's tuned for the latter, which means it'll work fine as long as there's not a lot of cell phones, microwaves, laptops or other equipment using the same band and colliding with the packets.

But for the price, you can't really expect a device that transmits on multiple bands simultaneously for redundancy and CRC, and using advanced algorithms to recreate the sound perfectly even with moderate packet loss. The price is very attractive, but I'd keep a tested cable handy...
