There is such a thing as too many knobs. That amp is it.
If I saw someone using this, I would think they were very insecure, much like someone with two dozen pedals on their pedal board.

So do you consider people who own Mustangs or other modeling amps insecure? Or how about people who own six amplifiers? Are they insecure too?

I believe Alex Lifeson has a signature Mark 2. Is he insecure? How much you wanna bet he's licking his chops for the Mark 3?

He has a stage technician doing all the knob twiddling for him. Who, if I were to venture a guess, leaves most of the knobs untwiddled.

That would, I presume, depend on the endorsement contract. The band being supplied with stuff like the huge space station neon "amps" by H&K presumably is part of the deal.

Well, there's a nice way to side-step the question. Maybe someone is insecure with his original statement eh?

Some people play multiple genres. Having that much of a variety of sounds readily available in one package isn't a sign of insecurity. It just downright kicks $@!. No offense to Fender, but they don't have a tube amp that covers such a broad spectrum.

I suspect you just don't like the looks of the amp which is your business. But I don't think its a fair thing to insult those who get good use out of it.

Likely Alex Lifeson has an effects rack plugged directly into PA... no amps at all. Many stadium rock bands put empty Marshall cabs and whatnot on stage for appearances only. The music is played through an Axe-FX and rack effects controlled by computer and monitored by a techie.

I don't know what's backstage, but the amps you see onstage with ZZ Top are definitely props, though they are lit up.

I know the guys in Korn personally, and every time I'm watching the show from the stage I can see the Dual Rec heads in action. 2-heads sitting in a rack fired up. There will be a couple prop speaker cabs, but they're using the same heads you would buy at GC.

You should know that the Hughes and Kettner does have a direct box built into the amp. So you can run both. Given the features and sounds of a Triamp, I would bet he uses them live.
