Looking better , but why do we have to endure the big wide picture header, that necessitates having to scroll down every time a fresh subject is chosen?
It takes up half my screen

Image

It can't be to sell something, it's just ANNOYING . Surely all the neccessary info (view new posts etc ) could be incorporated into a single line?

Also, considering I have played guitar over 50 years, I object to the childish maroon PLECTRUMS (yes folks that is what they were called originally , not "picks") on my profile picture referring me as a "roadie"...............why have silly names?, why not just show a coloured in one for how many posts without the "hobbyist/rock star" crap

So you're a child of the age of Cinemascope, VistaVision, Cinerama, and the lot. You should be conditioned by now. As far as the 'picks' are concerned, just wait until you've reached 'rock star' status and the UK contingent decends on your flat to celebrate with a Fendergate party. 8)

Wow. Been away for a few months (things to do, people to see, yadda yadda), come back and find that everything's changed - and I can't get in!

I've spent three hours over two days trying to log in. It's like doing a 1990s Nintendo game - you keep getting sent back to the start to try a different route through the maze. And I happen to know Forum user BMW-KTM Is still out there trapped in that loop at this moment... Oh well, it's all good clean fun, no doubt.

None of the helpful work-arounds previously suggested worked for me, unfortunately, though thanks to those who posted them.

Brad, part of my difficulties seemed to be that various features don't work on iPads. I don't like my iPad, and neither does the Forum, apparently. For example, on the .../forgot-password/ page, the submit button doesn't work. Then when I tried changing my location to the US site the menu button in the top left corner produces a list of options which again are non-functional, at least on an iPad.

In the end I managed to find my way through on the Windows 8 browser on my phone. That OS doesn't have many supporters but I'm sticking with it. :)

Anyway. A couple of glitches you may be able to check out, Brad.

Aside from all that, I'm generally liking the pages visually and looking forward to learning my way around the new layout.

Onward and upward, guys.

Cheers - C

Matter o' fact, the routine is that we invite you down to Brighton, walk you to the end of the East Pier and then suddenly throw you off, while singing Drowned from The Who's Quadrophenia.

Actually, we're not fussy about post counts. We're happy to throw fellow Forum users in the sea any time they wish. Just ask. And of course, a friendly beer afterwards.

Don't be a stranger, Ted. 8)

Cheers - C

There ya go :!: I wasn't about to identify our UK point man in this endeavor, but there he is in his own write. As fine a lad as you'll ever want to meet......and even moreso with a Guinness or two on board.

I quite like the look of it, the only thing that stumped me was logging on for the first time as the links to the registration were not working on the UK site. I asked Fender for help !!!HHmmm.(LONG SILENCE) I found out myself had to log on through the US site!! I Agree the font for actual typing is too small.

With reference to my previous post - the only reason I managed to access my account and post is because I have more than one computer set up to access this forum.
I have logged out on one of the machines and tried to log back in.

I keep getting an error message.
I click the forgotten password button.
I get a link through to this http://intl.fender.com/en-GB/
It's Groundhog Day for as long as you want to go round.

Is there any chance of you actually getting a grip of the problem?
I have already set up two (yes two) accounts because my first one (Stratmangler) wouldn't let me in and nobody at your end could sort that one out.
I'm now on Stratmangler2.
3 ain't gonna happen.

All I want to do is talk guitar with the other guys......
Your guitars and amps are great, but your forum is falling rather wide of the mark....

( So it wasn`t just me then) Go to the USA site then if you try to log in it wont work, "Register" as if you are new using your old details, everthing will be back as normal! Hope this helps :D

This is going to be a bit of an adjustment for me.

It doesn’t work on my Black Berry so no more checking the lounge on the Bus ride home from work :(

My email address that was associated with my account was old I guess and I have no access to that so can’t log in so I either have to contact the mods and have the info changed or continue on with this username.

Whew!

It wasn't easy running that gauntlet to get in here. I had to run to a friend's house and borrow and old laptop and try it from there. Apparently the new site doesn't like Apple products. Also had to change my "location" to USA with a simple mod to the URL.

Thanks for your advice, Ceri. Much appreciated.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I honestly didn't know if the forum was coming back or not since it was down a long time. Welcome back! Bug fixes take time of course for a small business with limited resources like FMIC. Here on a windows machine it isn't resizing avatars, so some members' avatars are spilling over into the comment field obscuring their remarks. Worse, when someone quotes them their avatar appears again and spills even further into the comment field blocking a larger percentage of text. This is mainly true for people with oversized avatars on my Firefox browser. Haven't tried the other browsers yet or my iPhone. I never use this forum on the iPhone anyway. This post was mainly to see if my avatar is a "comment space offender" and I found out that at least here it isn't. Many of you will want to resize your avatar or use a default stock avatar, otherwise your post won't be 100% seen here right now.

Ah, dearest brotherdave - you've subtly and effectively captured above the sentiment I was trying to express (likely poorly) previously. Thank you, kind sir. It's always interesting to me that in conversations of this nature no one's yet really pondered or commented on the reality of what was just launched around this thing that has absolutely nothing to do with forums. How about we ALL go get a coffee and discuss?

Now, back to business ... absolutely no need to resize avatar images. That's an easy fix that we're working on as we speak.

Yes - just a reskin of the existing forums ... all profile and signature data unchanged.
