On the positive side, I am very happy that the designers haven't fallen for the latest trend of having pop-ups on pretty much everything. That is a real usability killer on some "renovated" boards, as it prevent scrolling from working - once you scroll so the page moves under the mouse and triggers a pop-up, scrolling stops.
So thanks to whoever decided that was a bad feature, because it is, well, a bad feature.

Now, when we say "designers" plural, we of course mean "designer", singular. :D Agreed re: pop-ups ... not here, no sir!

I, too, am now seeing this regression. We'll get on it. And when I say we, I of course mean "the aforementioned designer."

Overall, I like it. Very clean and easy to read.

I'm starting to get adjusted to it. I like it too. Looks like the text size in the "posting box" or whatever you call it has been resized, very nice. Change is always a bugger at first.

Likewise, shows I have not registered any products, and my profile info was also missing....what's up with that?

Lucky I keep log in on my other Mac, this why I'm here.

I'm very disappointed about the new look .
Everything take tooooo much space . Why ?
I have to scroll scroll ..........

Few Hours after , I get log in in the forum. Just by chance ? I don't know

Arjay, I was just going to send you an email. I thought you fell off the end of the earth. I did see you on TFF so I figured you were still healthy. Glad to see you back!

Hi Brad,

I can't get into my captainc account. Is it possible to update that or merge with my fuse account? With the overhaul of the forum i may as well take the opportunity to do the same with my two accounts.

thanks very much.

Happy Holidays.

Um, not to be too blunt, but does Fender employ one person to be sysadmin, tester, webadmin and designer? In a pinch, it is possible to combine the first two, middle two or the last two, but not all four - the person will suffer, the customers will suffer, and ultimately the company will have cut not money, but twigs to flog their own back. It's not good ROI.

If I could, I would send you a PFY (pimply faced youth, assistant) for the holidays.

For now, I recommend you make a small sign on a stick saying the important phrase "No", to lift whenever someone has a bad idea like upgrading a production site without performing staging and pre-release testing. Pinch pennies on quantity, not quality.

Aside from that, is the "New products" section really gone? While not everything people say there may be positive, it has certainly led to sales - I wouldn't have had my awesome $2150 Select Tele HH if it wasn't for that section, nor tried out the Fender branded blues harps (verdict: cheaper than the Hohner model they're based on, so a good buy, but not as good as the much pricier Marine Band). That section seemed to me like the perfect place for letting patrons know of new products that won't stare you in the face at the local Guitar Center. The e-mail marketing is useless in comparison, because it's strictly one-way, and push (i.e. annoying), not pull.

It's called "tablet friendly", supposedly to help with fingers being far huger and less precise than mouse cursors. It's also a pendulum swing reaction to Web 2.0, where everything suddenly should have rounded corners and drop shadows. Now everything should be rectangular and flat, with sharp corners and big colored whitespace fields, hover pop-ups and edge detection.
It started with Gnome 3, then Windows 8 "Metro", Android "Material Design" and now everybody is following the bandwagon. Including FMIC.
I must say that it's been toned down a fair bit here, thankfully.

Though I have already provided comments on this topic; it crossed my mind, again, as I read newer posts, that part of the explanation regarding the new face of the forum stated, "The cosmetics and design of the Forums have been updated to match the branding of our new US site." Not sure why that necessitated the extent of modifications that has resulted. I have seen other websites that have made "face lifts", that did not result in the issues this has. Not clear as to why matching the branding of the new US site necessitated that.. :?: It seems like IT gone awry...

Greetings from England

Regardless whether the new forum is liked or disliked (i've only just managed a login) one thing had me well baffled.

The thing is I was registered on an old OLD email address which to be honest went cold ages back. This meant registering anew was a likely scenario as obviously I couldn't reset my password.

I decided to try one last time using the long dead e mail address and weirdly I could access it ?? and was able to "reset" as required.
Has anyone at fender considered old (supposedly inactive) e mails would prevent pw resets, just wondered !

Oh well onwards and upwards
